Irfanview is pretty nice for quick resizing, cropping, color tweaking, and format conversion. Light program.

I've been happy with Chacos for the past 8 years or so, though. (In the summer.) They're spendy, but they last a long time; they're okay for hiking and you can get them wet.

I pretty much refused to wear nothing but boots or visually plain sneakers until I got a pair of cheapish New Balance shoes. They were "frustratingly comfortable," as I was convinced I'd look like a big fag wearing them, but they felt too good to pass up. I still think their ornate detailing makes them look silly, but they helped get rid of shin splints when walking quickly on a treadmill. (So did increasing the incline.)
Function over form, in the end. Nothing new.
