But he's like the only newbie we've HAD in like TWO YEARS.  Clearly if we're going to stay up to Clutch's numbers, we HAVE to ban him a couple of times a month.

PS: Clutch, am I remembering correctly that your birthday was around this time of year?  If so, happy birthday!

I'm impressed, Thad; it's a week away.

As for the banning, I'm a different person now. Slowness to anger, forgiveness: these are traits I've cultivated since I was last on these boards. And that's why I think I should be given ABSOLUTE POWER TO GIVE LIFE AND TO TAKE IT AWAY, TO ELIMINATE FROM SOCIETY ALL THAT WOULD DO IT HARM.

You know, like old times.

Just about all of those would be changed to read "meh," or something like that; this election has me feeling pretty jaded. Is it possible not to care about ANY of the candidates, third-party guys included? I'm going to vote for Bob Barr, but god dammit if I can't accept as a Libertarian a man who for twenty-plus years worked to build the War on Drugs into the rights-seizing juggernaut it is today. And now he's going to smack his forehead and act like he made a simple mistake? Bullshit.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail the conversation. Back to talking about me.

I wasn't keeping careful tabs on political opinions at the time, but wasn't that '04? Or would you say that the majority of the board members here cared an awful lot about Bush being out of office?

Also, jaded, not caring, etc? That sounds like something about you!

I can see why someone wouldn't dig Obama, but I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't be filled with furious indignation at the idea that Sarah Palin should ever be in charge of anything bigger than a shopping cart.

I can see why someone wouldn't dig Obama, but I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't be filled with furious indignation at the idea that Sarah Palin should ever be in charge of anything bigger than a shopping cart.

There is no matter of any substance on which I agree with Sarah Palin, and the idea that she might finagle a term as the fucking president really does tweak my nipples. However, it's presidential candidates I'm talking about, and not a one of them has me fired up. I had Ron Paul for awhile to keep my outlook cheery, but all he can do now is go on CNN and go "nya-nya" over the bailout bill and tell us why we should be back on the gold standard.

As for Obama, as much as I'd love to love him, I'm very much underwhelmed by the hype. I'm in my mid-twenties, yet I seem to be the only one to recall that nearly every election in our country's history that followed the office of a termed-out president featured at least one reform candidate promising change, change, change. Obama has done nothing to indicate that he's anything more than just a politician like the rest, and his choice of Biden as a running mate indicated to me that that's exactly what he is ("Yes, we kids will change the world! ...but we'd better have Mom and Dad looking over our shoulders so we don't mess anything up too bad.") At this point in the campaign, though, I feel positive that he'll win, so I'm hopeful that I'm proven wrong about him.

EDIT: I should mention that it really doesn't matter who I vote for, being that I'm a Californian.

Ron Paul was "Eh" for me.
Then all the college yuppie fucks wouldn't shut the god damn hell up about him.
THEN I learned he wanted to dismantle several government things that saved my life growing up.
It was at this point that I took great pleasure in making life miserable for said college yuppie fucks.

I love Obama so much that even if he were a kiddie pool full of snapping turtles, I would roll naked in him.

However, frankly, he also shares my views on a lot of stuff.  Some people don't think like me.

Kazz, I know you're lying, because you just claimed you thought correctly (i.e. like me) about a large number of things.
Just like Thad is always to blame, you must always be wrong.
