But I learned a Lesson from the DS, you know?

What lesson? That the first year or so will suck, but then there will be tons of great games? Or the lesson that there will be an inevitable 3DS Pocket/SP/Lite a year after that?

Because it's a hand held it could probably use a camera and your eyes as reference points and create 3D in a manner similar to that demo from a few years back of 3D using the Wiimote.

No, the one where games have microphone mechanics which are annoying because they don't play well, or touch screen gimmicks, etc.

Head tracking would be fucking wonderful, but it could be something as simple as a lenticular display.

Lenticular is lousy for monitors/TV's/anything you might want to watch without sitting at a very narrow and specific viewing angle.  It'd be just fine for a handheld game system though.

I can't be the only one who thinks this. Wouldn't a touchscreen completely destroy any illusion of 3D?

They won't necessarily go with another touchscreen if they have a new gimmick.

Presumably it'll be the top screen that's 3D.

Head tracking wouldn't interfere with the touch screen.

They won't necessarily go with another touchscreen if they have a new gimmick.

only if the 3d is appearing to go towards the viewer, if it appears that it's moving away from you and will never be closer than the screen there's no problem at all.

Though they did say that it would be fully compatible with DS and DSi titles, so I think that a touchscreen might be required regardless.

Ah, I hadn't heard about that, well, who knows what they'll do really then.

I suppose so, but still having a touchscreen in a 2D manner interacting with a 3D space would just be...odd. The idea of only the top screen having 3D makes more sense, especially because it's been proven that head tracking technology works/is totally awesome. I'd love to see it used on a DS.
