I've mentioned it a few times but I've been wanting to make a podcast for a while now and now that I have a working computer again, I actually have the ability to.

The podcast is going to try to cover the main points in the issues that come out each week and then various opinions/ramblings. I figure it'd be helpful for people who only follow one or two books and still want to be up to date with the comic universe. I do this basically every Wednesday night at the bar anyway so why not record it and polish it up a bit?

I'm slowing trying to convince a buddy or two to help me cohost so it's not just me talking about the same things all the time. Hopefully that'll be more appealing to listeners and more fun for me. Also, that'd help get more variety of comics as I only read Marvel and a few indie comics. Granted, I'm reading ALL of Marvel so that's helpful.  I'm trying to convince my buddy to read a few more DC comics than just the Superman ones and that's slow going. Worst comes to worse, I figured I can grab someone to do a monthly "Batman and Friends Recap" and cover the Batbooks for the month and that'd probably be good enough.

I've looked around at a few smaller podcasts I enjoy and will probably take a page out of their book and just do a small blog with the podcast as a post and rss feed. Seems the simplest way.

I'm working on the name right now. I'm kind of leaning towards "Live From the Gutters" but am very much open for suggestings. Actually, if anybody has any suggestions of any kind, I'm all ears.

The other night I was bored and drunk and decided to make a Blue Beetle costume in Animal Crossing. And I haven't stopped making stupid clothes for it. I figured I'd post a few favourites here in case anyone wants to grab anything.

Let me know if there's anything you me to change or if you have a request or something.

World's Most Scientific Institute / BUG GAME: LAME NAME SHAME
« on: May 26, 2013, 04:27:32 PM »
Working on a RPG where you play as bugs on a quest for treasure, adventure, and candy.
The main kind of Bug are different species of beetles, followed by ants, termites, wasps, and bees. Other bugs are (so far) enemies. With Spiders and Scorpions being equivalent to dragons and maggots/flies equal to goblins/orcs.

ANYWAY! I've been referring to the game simply as Bug Game but that's not cutting it as I'm getting closer to playtesting.

So I turn to you.

Media / Luther
« on: February 04, 2012, 10:15:05 PM »
So I caught a few episodes of Luther on Netflix. It's a BBC Crime Drama. I was expecting a sort of Law and Order.
But it's nothing of the sort. When they say it's about Luther and his psychological problems I kind of assumed he maybe had a troubled marriage or anger problems. And he does. But there's a lot more to the show than that.
It's hard to go on too much without giving it away, seeing as all Netflix has are the first 6 episodes so I'll just give my reactions to the first six episodes as such
1: "That was pretty good. I can see where they're going with this."
2: "Oh wow. I didn't expect that. This'll be neat."
4. "Oh wow. OOOooooh wooooow."
6: I'm on my knees yelling why don't we have TV like this over here.

Puppy started another barking fit. She's a tiny little dog and two days ago, discovered the apparent joy of yipping. Now, I've complained about my headstuff before so I won't go into it again but wow. I passed out during a yipping fit earlier today and she took the opportunity to bite my ears repeatedly.

Going to run around the block with her again. She can't bark while running. She actually stops moving to bark and then runs forward a bit and then stops. Then she barks. It makes running into other dogs a hilarious hassle.

Morning comes and so does a new Wolf Game!
Not that any of you can see it.

There seems to be a lot of things you don't know. Who anyone is, how many wolves, what roles stand in your way. But one thing is for certain.
WOLVES MUST DIE.

Ok. I've got a fun little idea for wolf and I'd like to try running a game!

Seeing Eye Wolf!
Everyone is playing blind! Unknown number of wolves. Unknown roles. When people die, only their team affiliation is revealed, not their roles. But that's ok. Wolves are equally blind. They don't know who each other are.
Oh. And to top it all off? Alt accounts!
 :richiam:

I've never done one of these before, so I don't have special "Lottel game" rules like Friday and Guild seem to have. But I do want to say this:

Talking about game outside of thread is A-OK. But I'd like a copy of transcripts or be included in the chat or whatever. I'm always logged into IRC so click my name and add to chat, skype, text my cellular telephone, or fucking drive by my house screaming at me. The reason I say this is there is a certain win condition that happens when a player says a special phrase. This phrase can happen in or out of the thread and I need to catch it. So I'll give out e-mails, skype name, even shoe size if that helps.

If this works out like I hope, then it'll be a blast. If it works out nothing like I hope, it'll be a slow simmer followed by a call for blood. HERE'S TO HOPING.

Oh.
Going through the old threads, I noticed Bongo Bill mentioned http://mailinator.com/. That may be useful, I guess?

This is you. You seem like a happy chap. A bit forgetful, maybe, seeing as you can't remember your name.

You also appear to be dead. You're not sure how that happened either.

WHY NOT, EH? I've got time, a tablet, and no self-esteem. I should be able to do this.

Comes out soon enough and I know for a fact that half the people here will grab a copy eventually.
Anyone else grabbed that demo?

I was worried about the puzzle bits but they are interesting and fast paced. I can definitely see how that'll get super hard later on.
Art looks phenomanal, the voice acting great, story sounds to be fantastic.
Moral choice system
? Interesting. If there's anyone who can do something nice with this, I'd bet Atlus would be the ones.

Media / There's a Crapp for That
« on: May 12, 2011, 08:11:46 PM »
Well, we have a"bitch about my phone being crap" thread but that's as close as we get so here's an app thread. Feel free to merge if no one cares.

Netflix came out with their Android app today. Downloaded it and am trying it out. Fucker takes almost 22 MB. Which thanks to Android's stupid app limit, takes a lot of space. And apparently you can only move half of it to SD. So I may have to delete it.

BUT the app it's self works pretty nice. Quality isn't great but then again, it's a phone. And I've received no stuttering or buffering or anything and I was trying on 3G and just on Wi-Fi so I'm pleased with how it acts. The menus a tad sluggish though. But that could just be because the massive app caused me to run out of memory so my whole phone was acting odd.

Another annoyance is you can't rotate the screen. It only shows it one way. Which just happens to be where the charging port is. Now, if I had a DOCK that'd be great. But since I don't it means my "lean and charge" method is now "lean, charge, and kinda finagle a book under it." Minor annoyance. I assume their fix this.

Gonna try to see if I can slim down the app or something or else I might have to uninstall it. Too much space. But it works nice. It'd be fun to have netflix at work when I'm waiting hours on end for something to do.

Forum Games / Can I Get a Clue? (It's an Interest Thread)
« on: January 16, 2011, 04:21:39 PM »
I've been in the mood for a game for a while, friends. And I've got what I believe to be a fun idea. Now I have done this sort of thing for a while and it is my first time doing so with you guys, but I think I'm up for the challenge.
The game is Clue. A good old fashioned murder mystery.

Characters:
Wayne Boddy- Wealthy business man with a rumored past of dirty dealings. Owns Boddy Corp. Charming man but incredibly self-centered. Total playboy.
James Hadsworth- Boddy's butler for 25 years. He's seen it all and has   been an unsung hero at Boddy's parties, making sure nothing runs amuck.   Stickler for the rules.  Wears an eyepatch thanks to an old war wound   but his sharp eyes never miss a thing.
Professor Arthur Plum- Boddy's nerdy, soft-spoken partner and childhood friend. Smart man. Designs most of what Boddy Corp puts out. His wife has filed papers for divorce.
Henry Mustard- British explorer. Just recently returned from Africa big game hunting.  Was dishonorably discharged from the army for unknown reasons.
Ms. Elizabeth Peacock- Formerly Mrs. Peacock. Last husband died under mysterious circumstances and his estate is running dry. Rumor has it she used to date Boddy back in her heyday.
Ms. Sarah Scarlet-American movie star, Last movie was a flop and she's currently looking for her next work. Last Sunday's paper had a photo of Scarlet and Boddy together in a car. But that's all the information the paper had.
Timothy Green-Founder of Greenworks. Ruthless but charming businessman. Personal AND business rival of Boddy. His company is currently doing a bit less well than Boddy Corp and Boddy won't let him forget it.
Francisco Blanc-Up and coming Spanish businessman.  Newcomer to the stage and being hailed as "The Next Wayne Boddy"

Setting: It's Boddy's 45th birthday and he is celebrating by inviting you all to his private yacht for a trip to New York. Trip should take 8 days and all the while you will be fed gourmet meals and treated to the finest luxuries.

Goal:
Everyone: Find out who the killer is before you make it to America where they can escape. Or stop them from killing again.
Killer: Get away with murder. Destroy evidence or kill if you have to.

Will need a Plum, Mustard, Peacock, Scarket, Green, and Blanc. Can add   more if need be. Sign up anonymously and PM me with who you are so I can   get a hold of you. I will let you know if you are the killer or not and   will give out additional information on each person.

Gaming Discussion / Spider-man Shattered Dimensions
« on: September 07, 2010, 08:01:07 AM »
Just after an hour of gameplay I can easily say this: Fun game, good writing, liking a lot of it but...
I love Spider-man 2099. But his game version? He does sound like a young Stan Lee. And boy is he hammy. Hammier than Stan, even. It's not just the way he talks. He even moves more exagerated. It's a far cry for the comics, which is too bad. I guess they didn't want all this overlap though. Noir and 2099 has a lot of similar themes, I think. Darker, less chatty spideys being one of them.

Gaming Discussion / Singularity
« on: July 25, 2010, 12:10:24 AM »
I rented this tonight, I was expecting a Psy-Ops like game with a huge gimmick being the focus of the whole game and everything else secondary. I'm so glad that's not the case. It's a good survival horror with a pretty good story. The whole story deals with time messing up and zombies. And there are some "ghosts" around. So you're in an abandoned house and you find a note saying the children are locked up stairs so they wouldn't be killed. You take a step towards the stairs and you here a giggle and a ball bounces down the stairs. You open a door, see a flash of children, then BAM! Monster in your face. A part a few minutes later has you walking around a school with kids bodies everywhere, 6 bullets or so, and waters on the floor. The entire time you can catch things moving in the water out of the corner of your eye, water sloshing behind you, and whispers and screams of children.  Very creepy.
I'm also a fan of the whole "Russian propaganda for children" thing that's going on everywhere.
I dunno. Setting is good, controls are good, camera is good, story is fine. I'm not really seeing a problem here.

I guess it's short? I'm not sure. Only a few hours into it. Still no time control things. Just a zombie shooter with ghosts and a nice variety of zombie types and appearances.

Alright. So I've decided on my tattoo design and placement and all that.  But I'm kind of a pansy when it comes to pain. Now, I had a biopsy with electric needles before. I assume it'd be like that, right?
Is there any advice for me or anything useful I should know? I'm not really sure who here actually has a tattoo.

Media / Mystery Inc!
« on: April 06, 2010, 01:43:03 PM »
Anyone else catch this? Best Scooby series since... the original. Art is different but good. It's awfully angular, I'd say a mix between the original art and Spectacular Spider-man.  Takes place in Crystal Cove, a tourist destination specializing in hauntings and the supernatural and home to Mystery Inc.  It talks about the gangs parents and family as well as showing how they aren't very popular thanks to all this mystery solving.

Velma and Shaggy are a thing. Fred disregards Daphne's obvious hints to focus on building traps. Seriously, the guy is fucking obsessed. It's all he talks about.

It's a lot like the movies, actually. The live action ones.  A half parody.

Digging how it's going. Looking for it to continue on.

Assorted Creations / Lynch!
« on: March 09, 2010, 10:12:20 PM »
Went to play poker tonight. It devolved into us trying to find a new game once we lost enough money/players. So a buddy and I came up with a game. The game goes like this:

1. Dealer deals out two cards per person.
2. Player can look at their two cards.
3. Gameplay goes clockwise from dealer
4. You can trade one card per round.
-You can trade with anyone on the table.
-You can't trade back for the card they traded you. You must trade a different card.
5. You must leave your cards on the table and can't shuffle their positions.
6. After everyone as traded once, everyone flips their cards over.
7. See who wins.
8. Next person clockwise from Dealer is now the Dealer.

The game mainly focuses on the colors. White (Red) and Black. Black is bad. White is good. When dealt you get three options: Pure White, Mixed, Pure Black. If you end the round with Pure White, you win. If you end with Pure Black, you lose. These happen no matter what. Mixed is a maybe. Pure White > Mixed > Pure Black. If there is a tie with Mixed ,you add the number of the cards together, with Ace=1 and Face=10. Higher cards are winners.

Those are the basic rules. You keep going for a while. We started playing by betting on whether or not our hands would win and it devolved into whoever loses takes a shot.

The game is fairly simple but since you can't change the order of your cards and everyone is watching you and the cards you trade (and more importantly the cards you didn't trade) there is a fair amount of thought/bluffing involved.

After a while, we came up with some optional rules:
-If Dealt hand is White King and Queen, you instantly are a winner and the round is over. Everyone flips the cards to see who won/lost.
-If Dealt hand is Black King and Queen, you instantly are a loser and the round is over. Everyone flips the cards to see who won/lost.
-If There is a Pure Black and everyone else is Pure White the loser is Lynched and can't play for a predetermined amount of time. (We did one)
-If There is a Pure White and everyone else is Pure Black the winner is Lynched and can't play for a predetermined amount of time. (We did one)

There were a few more optional rules but I can't remember them. Figured I'd post here mostly to make sure I had a record of the rules but also in case anyone here was looking for a silly game to play here and there.
