Is there a consistent ratio between meters in the slip vs. the real world?

I believe it's 16 real world blocks for every block in the slip/hell/nether.

Three: I AM NEVER GOING TO HELL AGAIN. Shit was "heh. This is kind of creepy" until the sounds of people crying started to play. ON REPEAT. WITH BITS OF LAUGHTER THROWN IN.

You know, at first I was all, "fast travel, fuck yeah!", but, err... I... I think I'll walk. :>_>:

since the Minecraft servers seem to be stable now, can we get our server updated?

Done.

All I did was update the .jar, so you won't see any world changes, or new configs.  Look for a new parallel instance shortly.

I may have to lower the memory allocation to a reasonable amount for these.  It should not be a problem.

EDIT: Actually I'm going to take this time to do some extra maintenance, so check back and I'll announce when it's back up.

Aaand we're done.  Looking over the actual list of multiplayer updates it seems like a new world at this point would be frivolous at best, so we're sticking with the old one.

There are some changes to how the server is working on this end, but none of them should really affect you except this one:

minecraft.brontoforum.us is no longer a valid address.  Please connect using bigshell.brontoforum.us

That is all.

You'd love the soundtrack in DEFCON.

Code: [Select]
<Upth> oh goddammit
<Upth> so, patch introduced a new bug that only happens in MP
<Upth> you can no longer walk on the top z-layer
<Upth> if your head goes above the top buildable level, you get stuck and start twitching and can't move or fall or lay blocks
<Upth> until you /home
<Brentai> :|
<Upth> doesn't occur in SP, so it must not be intentional

Until this is fixed, some of our awesome architecture is ruined, as you can't walk on top for beautiful views. (zed's pyramid, LOGAL tower, The Spire, etc)

Fire up some kind of map editor, lower everything by one Z level?

Seems a little drastic for an obvious bug that doesn't really affect all that much.

Also a word of warning for single player people: there's a bug that makes your entire inventory disappear instead of dropping when you die.  So be extra careful if you're carrying a lot of valuable stuff.

Portals don't quite match up yet. Like, if you make a Earth portal, the Nether portal might get relocated to a nearby tile to avoid clipping, and then when you come back it'll link to a different location.

FOUND A LARGE LARGE ANGER INDUCING BUG
My save said 0.0 earlier. Luckily I saved a copy yesterday while trying to fix. So I replaced it.
Just said it again. I clicked on it and it was fine.

So I got rid of a days worth of work and had a quick scare. Sent an email but warning you guys anyway.

EDIT: Spawning may be bugged. I had a 8x4 rectangle FILLED with mobs. I mean several per square. Not to mention that my land is overrun by mobs.

I am rather looking forward to the next update. Until then, I am going to try to not die and kill all these chickens and shit I can.

Infinite obsidian can be made using this glitch.  :perfect:

Trees have a bug where you can't chop them if they grow while you're logged in. The client can't see the green leafy stuff, so it lets you chop the log. The server can see the leafy stuff, and doesn't think you can hit the log through the leafy stuff.

The best TNT defusal method I've found is to surround the whole lot in a tank full of water. As long as your water coverage is good and you set the TNT blocks off one at a time, it should be safe. In small-scale tests, I managed to blow out the side of my tank twice but the statue was unharmed.

Craftbook looks... aesthetically displeasing. If it at least used redstone somehow instead of signs, it would integrate much better.

It's not that bad. Signs are pretty innocuous.

Apparently it's actually 8 now.  Haven't tested it out myself, just going by Notch's twitter.

It's not that bad. Signs are pretty innocuous.
From a programming perspective, giving signs differing abilities based on their text is an ugly hack.
From a programming perspective, right-clicking signs is an ugly and hackish... hack to make the feature work.
From a user perspective, right-clicking signs is a kludgy and inconsistent interface method, as normally right-clicking a sign does nothing, and whether or not a sign does anything depends entirely upon its text.
I am not opposed to the idea of lightswitches, elevators, or gates, but the implementation described sounds pretty terrible to me. If you add a feature like that, make use of the existing user interface tools, don't just tack on a new one with a totally different paradigm.

No problem at all with the description of bookcases in that, though.
