Title: DUNGEON FIGHTER
Post by: Norondor on September 13, 2009, 07:20:37 AM
So there's this. (http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/) Side-scrolling brawler MMO with multiple clases. Looks somewhat decent! Open beta begins tomorrow, is anyone besides me interested in trying it?

I tried it during the closed beta. Unless you have friends playing with you, it is sort of lame in my opinion.

I am willing to play this game with friend Norondor but keep in mind that if I find the game has wronged me in some way I will transfer this hate to all such parties.

I'll just wait for the D&D arcade games to be released on XBLA or something.

let me say that if that ever did happen, i would be all over it. Curiously, though, Capcom seems not to want to make tons of money LITERALLY re-releasing the same games over and over, only figuratively.

The reason we don't have the D&D games is not because of Capcom, Norondor.

Probably true. But i also significantly doubt they are actively pursuing the licence or anything like that.

To be fair, D&D has had massive increase in popularity since the game was released.  They had a movie! So now Wizards of the Coast is probably like "GIVE US INFINITEY BILLION DOLLARS".

That a bunch of the answers in the game are no longer correct.  I remember that because the last time I played it, well over 5 years ago there were a bunch of out of date questions.

I don't know what to say. I think this is the most unkorean korean mmorpg I've ever played. I don't particularly like the fatigue points system, but I can at least see what they're doing here. In any case, good times.

Title: Re: DUNGEON FIGHTER
Post by: Kazz on September 16, 2009, 03:23:24 AM
What do the fatigue points do?  I haven't really figured that out.

Also, yes, it is lots of fun to WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM finalfight goblins to death with HUGEST CROSS.
Title: Re: DUNGEON FIGHTER
Post by: Envy on September 16, 2009, 04:48:10 AM
Fatigue points prevents fucked up economy. Makes it so people do not get max level in the first week. Basically it gives you a time limit on how much you can play before making you switch to a different character. Each room in a dungeon you visit takes 1 fatigue point away.

Maybe we should set a time to try boogeying out? Or IMing each other?

Level Five. Upgrade your weapons as fast as you can, I actually had to break a pot in combat and I got a revolver that let me beat the level.

also is this one of those betas where they vaporize characters at the end of it

also you get 156 fatigue points a day I can't really imagine how hardcore dungeon stomping you have to be to expend them that fast

Level 7 and 1/2. I sort of found a hand-cannon and it lets me kill 3-5 enemies at once.

But I guess they anticipate you being able to solo dungeons in less than 5 minutes given that one of the Pot Head Guys gives you quests to do so.

You only have to do captchas after you've been playing a long time. I didn't see any until I was almost out of fatigue points. I think it also factors in the way you're playing, maybe if you don't use combos or your rank is really low or if you skip a lot of items?

I'm enjoying fighter a lot, but on bosses where you can't easily combo chain (like the bosses of poison thunderland and thunderland and blazing gakqarak) it's really, really rough going. You can mop the floor with trash and fodder though, and it's really easy to get high technic and style. And big bosses that aren't prone to quickly evading your attacks make great combo farms.

I've been playing around with a program that extracts frames out of the game's art files and have learned two things: there's a full set of art for what seems to be a female gunner class that was either scrapped or has not yet been unlocked, and there's an absurd amount of avatar items that Nexon will most likely sell for real money.

I honestly don't know but even though I don't mind the grind for these levels they really messed up the exp curve. Instead of the normal DnF and Arado Senki exp tables, the required amount of experience to level up is doubled.... that means from lv 23-24, instead of the 350k exp needed, you require 700k... and from 60-61... instead of 18.3m exp, it'll be 36.6m exp.....

Title: Re: DUNGEON FIGHTER
Post by: Envy on October 07, 2009, 11:30:05 PM
Yeah it's pretty rediculous but I can see why. In arad and other versions it took most of a week to two weeks to get to 40+. That's most of the content gone. I'm thinking they wanted to prolong the game and in result pissed off alot of players in the process.
Title: Re: DUNGEON FIGHTER
Post by: Brentai on October 07, 2009, 11:44:29 PM
It seems like simply being decent at the game allows you to blow through levels at ridiculous speeds.

I don't see a problem with that, other than of course they don't have most of the game ported yet.

I hit 27 today. The grind from 26-27 was brutal but it's one of those breaks where you don't have any good quest. The new dungeon is quite alot better then anything in skytower especailly chamber and Vest. Pvp is pretty darn good in this game I must say. I was quite suprised when if your skilled enough a 10 can beat a 30 or a 27 could dominate a top level 40.

Oh what fun the official forums are. Two berserkers with max zanbato mastery are trying to win a pink katana over me. Current high bidder is me with 5.6 mill. Hopefully I get this damn thing. Best katana in game currently I think.

So I was going to LP some more of this game, but then I had to take a call in the middle of it and got to learn about the Frustration status.

It's a system that punishes you for having obligations outside of Dungeon Fighter.

Seriously, Korea?  Seriously???

I take it no one cares about this game anymore, but I really like screwing around with the art asset extractor, and I've found a Hard Gay costume for the goblin enemies.

Seriously, it's located in sprite_monster_goblin_equipment.npk/hgay.img

So I'm getting near the end game point and I'm hitting bosses with 15 bars of health. Totally rad game still. I'm grabbing quite a bit of extra gear just to give out randomly.

Oh, hey, they put in a guild system (http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/Magazine/Content.aspx?boardNo=600&contentNo=006qM).  Anyone still care about this game?

I really wanted to enjoy Dungeon Fighter, but the limited number of rooms you could go through a day combined with the steep annoyance factor of death and the lack of coherent partying mechanisms made playing this without friends more trouble than it was worth.

Is there a looking for group system in this yet? Will they ever be? etc.

Yeah it's called hitting ] and seeing what people want what party or you know. Asking someone higher level that you know that plays the game. (Maybe me idk but yeah.) Or hit J> XDungeonX. Works out pretty well for my self. My guild has tons of alts so we do runs for a variety of dungeons.

I may be starting up a new character here soon if someone is interested in playing and doesnt wanna just get group with random derps.
