Summer PSA: Please don't drown, guys.

THAD EDIT: Split from the Obit Thread; we were discussing Rodney King's death by drowning.  Quote added for context:

And this time of year, it's a reminder that even the best swimmer can drown.  Swim with a buddy.

the Arizona summer PSAs have affected your mind, Thad. It's possible you didn't even mean to type that. Much in the same way I don't mean to tell people to make sure they have water with them.

Knew a guy who drowned in a pool.  I don't care how hokey it sounds, I prefer to keep that number at one.

I can't really tell you how many times I've nearly killed myself screwing around.  I actually stay away from pools now simply so I don't trip over my instinct to try and become a water elemental.

Yeah, I basically have never went swimming without feeling like I was going to drown at some point. I think most people just don't realize how fine the line is from perfectly OK to past your limit when the only other option to swimming is to die.

This reminds of when I went kayaking on the first warm day of the year and halfway back to shore I realized I was in the middle of a lake that would kill me with hypothermia before I could possible swim to shore.

I've fallen down the stairs, set myself on fire, cut myself with my swords or other objects on accident, and generally toed the line between life and death so much it's a wonder I haven't had a second nervous breakdown over it.

Maybe you should try playing as the Boy instead of the Sprite. He's got more hit points and better defense.

Yeah, after a couple close run-ins as child in which I was saved from drowning in a crowded pool with people actively kicking me back under the water, I basically stay where I can stand and still have my head above water.

Well, back when I went to the pool, I guess.
