Actually, the joke here is that Missouri is two states, Missouri, the part defined by its northern urban centers and relatively progressive, and Missoura, the part defined by the southern parts which rumor has it, had secret KKK meetings til late into the 20th century.

This is the case with Virginia, though the northern part has exploded over the last 8 years, giving us two consecutive Democrat governors, two Democrat senators, and we went for Obama by a significant margin.

Couldn't have possibly imagined Virginia being like this when I moved here.

The stronger you punch, the better the door. So there are like super strong murderers who punch people into Venetian doors and shit"

The REAL America! The one that matters! The one that Sarah Palin will still take questions from!

Bloomberg has more on the executive orders Obama's likely to be overturning:

Quote
Susan F. Wood, co-chairman of Obama's advisory committee for women's health, said the president-elect also plans on reversing a policy that linked assistance for combating AIDS in the developing world to requirements that health workers emphasize monogamy and abstinence from sex over condom use.

Gun sales soar on Obama victory.

Not for the reason you're thinking of*, but it's still hilarious.

*not that, you know, most people are going to admit that in a poll.

“He wants to take our guns from us and create a socialist society policed by his own police force,” added Mr Pruett, a former radio personality.

A kind of federal police. A federal 'bureau', if you will.

Also: Does this imply people with guns are doing their own policing right now?

But that's if you look at statistics that compare violent armed crime rates before and after introduction of concealed carry licenses.  No link, but a source article would be Ludwig, Jens.  "Concealed-Gun-Carrying-Law and other Violent Crime:  Evidence from State Panel Data" in the international review of Law and Economics 18 Sept 1998

Gun sales soar on Obama victory.

People are concerned about overreaching legislation from Washington,” he said. “They are educating themselves on the Internet.

Quote from: The Times
The president-elect repeated that assurance on the campaign trail yet it is not so much this that has stuck in the conservative consciousness as his much reported remark that "bitter" small town Americans "cling to guns and religion".

"Let's prove him wrong by proving him right!"

Of note, this story was essentially written before the election had ended. Numerous factions were told that an inevitable race war would breakout no matter the result, slipping into Joe the Plumber fantasy rhetoric of a universe that never was.

:justasplanned: Not that there was ever any financial incentive for spreading such dangerous rumors or anything.

Not that there was ever any financial incentive for spreading such dangerous rumors or anything.

Quote from: article
“We’re not really sure who is promoting the concept that a change in federal administrations might affect firearms possession rights,” an agency spokesman, Lance Clem, said, “but we do know that it’s increased business considerably.”

Damn, not bad.

The issues just keep on giving. For years I've been dying for an end to soundbites and a return to oratory of some quality. This political season has been like manna from heaven. Well, in other countries anyway. Well okay, just the US.

...

YOU BETTER BELIEVE I'LL FUCKIN' TAKE WHAT I CAN GET THOUGH.

 :victory:

Guys, I know it's a bit early yet, but you know what I thought of today?

The State of the Union Address. Holy fuck my spine is getting all tingly at the thought. I cannot wait.

LA Times: Congressional Dems not just sitting around with their thumbs up their asses.

That's going to be a nice change of pace.

One issue still receiving too little attention is The Puppy Agenda:

The 60 Minutes interview from tonight just went online, and the meat of the agenda begins @ 35:00. The suspense is tearing this nation apart!

I liked his response to the college football question. It was as serious as he was at any point in the evening.
