The new music is okay, but it is still really fucking shrill. Egg Corridor's music makes me cry.

Also they made the noise of the exp dorito things make when they hit the ground the worst sound ever. You will regret killing things if there are more than four of them on the screen at once. Just a constant RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING sound that drowns everything else out.

Yes. The sound and graphics are configured independently.

Smiler, turn the sound effects volume to just below half if you want it to sound like the PC version.

I think it's a bit odd that the freeware translation managed to have more character (and more gooder grammers) than the professional one.

Also I fucked up getting the Good Ending the first time through... not like I've ever even come close to beating the Sacred Grounds.

Some of the music's alright, but some's really disappointing. Ditto the graphics: some stuff seems barely changed from the original, like King and Misery's portraits, and most of the sprites. Then there are a few images—Quote's sprite, Toroko's portrait—that seem stylistically different, and usually for the worse.

The biggest difference is definitely the localization. Gideon Zhi brings experience and subtlety to the free version. This version's dialogue ranges from unexceptional to appalling.

I don't know about the freezes, but the map shows up in a window half the size of your tv.

Then the map shows up in the window taking up only a third of the space, making it impossible to figure out.

When I've been in the Egg Corridor and Sand Zone and opened the map, the left side of the map is normal. At an arbitrary point moving to the right, any open passages are stretched all the way to the right side of the screen.
