Due to my Stats teacher forgetting to add in a 2 point project correction to everyones grades, 7 people (of ~600) moved up a letter grade. Guess who was one of them.

Real Life / Re: Your Job: The Movie
« on: November 21, 2010, 10:18:15 PM »
There's no "Someone Else's Job: The Movie" thread so I'm putting it here as it's still relevant to my interests.

The more I think about this, the more annoying it is.

See, we're broke. I think everyone here knows it by now. I've been looking for a new job for two months, with no results. She didn't go look for a job because she likes the one she has -- constantly-cut hours and shitty pay aside, it meant she could more easily stay out all night drinking with her friends.

That's right, we've been late on our rent a couple times, and with stiff late fees, to more readily supply her with beer.

So while I'm out exhausting myself turning in applications day after day, she gets promoted into exactly the job she wants, not only by putting in no effort whatsoever but by making the worst, most irresponsible possible choice.
Not to be a dick or anything, but something in me says that she's gotta go. You seem to be working way to hard to end up getting stiffed continually. When it comes to finances, at least in my book, if a roommate is making them unmanageable it is time to find one that won't.

That sentence is terribly written but my brain is about on empty right now.

I feel ya, Obi.  I'm getting myself distracted on purpose so I don't have to work on this research paper that's due tomorrow.  I've written probably a quarter of what I need.
Haha sounds like one of the guys I play TF2 with, he had a research paper due Tuesday, he hadn't started yet, and between Sunday and Monday we raked in over 20 hours of play time on the server we frequent.

Today I learned that I do not give one iota of fuck about this philosophical argument I am supposed to write. It is so bad that I have written 8 words and stared at the screen, because that is more fun.

Quick, someone lure him in with booze!

It's probably outside of your budget to get a human to read the narration instead of using Microsoft Sam/Mike/Whoever that was, huh?
I think the computer voice makes it hilariously awesome. Although you should see if you can get Sharkey to narrate it.

My parents are out of the town for the weekend going to the horse races and such, so everything around the house is calm and quiet. This morning I got a call from my mom at 7am, turns out my dad had a heart attack last night. His main artery into his heart was almost completely blocked. Luckily they were able to get him to the hospital and put in 3 stints, so he's ok and recovering in the ICU.

Of course I am stuck at home because I have "volunteer work", can it even be called that if you HAVE to do it for a grade, and class in the morning. Doctors said he should be released some time tomorrow though.

I had a weird dream the other night, well not really. It was more or less Freddie v Jason, except I took over Freddie's role and just beat the living hell out of him in his sleep over and over again. He would "wake up" and still be in a dream. He didn't get to do anything cool.

Got the living hell out of me in the morning though because my dad was up really early, like 5am, getting ready for work and all I could think was "Oh shit, he found me!"

He could mean brand new as in he's had it, but this is the first install, kind of like how food is still "fresh" if it has only been frozen the initial time.

XP is a good OS still, at least it isn't Vista.

Hopefully you can find an easy fix.

Seems like that setup should work TA, next question though, do you already have an OS you can use? If not you're looking at spending more.

The evil part of me is wanting to go grab the signs and put an extra "o" on them just to see if she notices or how she reacts, but the side that fears for his well-being at home says "Don't you even think about it."

I know, it is just kind of hard for me to be an ass like that to my mom.

I have a bunch of pet peeves, but the biggest one right now is people throwing around words like "fag" or "faggot". I realized this last night when my dad said it and I was annoyed. I think it is because I do work with so many homosexual, for lack of better descriptor, people, and it has opened my mind up since high school. Doesn't mean I want to hear about their love lives though.

I also realized I am a bit of a Grammar Nazi when I was pulling in the driveway today and saw my mom had typed "to" instead of "too" on a sign and I just wanted to get out and fix it.
