So Gurren Lagann is still fun to watch.

I only just watched it for the first time last year.

"Oh, so THIS is what all that porn references."

And about that vimeo/cotton thing, totally.  That was driving me nuts.  The worst was with that Colbe Calait (or some ridiculous name) person, who acted like they were paying her by the syllable and she desperately needed the money.  Sort of like this guy.

Oh hey Nintendo Super Squad is back

Oh wow, out of nowhere.  Like finding a gold nugget in between your couch cushions or something.

If we were to say that every death from now on is just a parody of Leslie's, it'll still be the most tasteful thing related to Nielsen in the last couple of decades.

I watched Frozen tonight.  This was not a wise decision.  I'm not sure what I was expecting, I guess maybe a more jokey, goofy horror approach, but not really.  They do what most horror/disaster films don't usually bother with, making the characters mildly likable, or at least relatable enough that you're completely repulsed later on when stuff starts happening.

If they'd been douchebags or something, it might be possible to take some perverse pleasure in seeing, say,
a guy falling, snapping the bones out of both of his legs, then sobbing for like an hour until wolves finally show up and eat him alive.  It definitely hit that point where you realize "This isn't fun.  Why am I watching this?"
It's kind of cute that one of the actors played Iceman in X-Men, and they get all winky meta referencing Open Water, but it stops being cute really quick and sort of turns into gruel.

If Les Stroud had been there, he'd have fashioned some sort of parachute out of the skin of the most annoying person and rode that sucker majestically down to the bottom of the mountain.

Oh, Les Stroud.  I need your calm, Canadian comfort now.   :;_;:

I liked that they didn't really play any games with presenting the
other Sam Rockwell.  Like "Is he real, is he just crazy," whatever.
They sort of just lay it out there so they can spend more time having fun exploring the idea.

This thread showed me a dragon vomitting from its eye sockets.

When I'm dying in the rain, this is one of the things I will tell Harrison Ford.

But I know who both of you are!  Don't think we ever talked much on Talking Time, but still, you seemed awwwwright.  And thanks, McDohl.   :nyoro~n:

At least they're not using memes in their game--  Well, no, I think I saw a Double Rainbow something or other in frontierville.

Gaia Online was essentially the same (basic carrot on a stick gimmick, shamelessly using memes) but at least it had the eroticism of playing with dolls (?) and the forums while you play.

I used to go there and I distinctly remember a thread where a girl claimed a shark bit off her vagina.  That was the exact wording: "off."  Of course it didn't happen, but then it's like...

What if it did?

I'm sure he won't share a cell with a Bubba, but since this is Texas, maybe justice will see to it that it's a Bubba that gently slaps his wrist.

Farmville gives my parents something to do online for a change, so I can't completely hate it.  Then again, they always seem to be scowling while they play it, so I don't know.  And there's nothing more surreal than hearing a screaming argument where someone says "I just needed to do something on fucking Farmville!"

I'm pretty sure I heard one of them talking about how they recieved an egg that contained a full-size hot air balloon once.  That seems like a bit too much whimsy for a couple of southern Baptist Evangelicals, but what do I know?

My dad's also started getting into Frontierville which seems to be the same, only with combat, now. So basically Diablo!  I caught him planting peanuts yesterday for almost five minutes.  He told me they had to be done now because it'd take three weeks for them to grow.  I asked if this was game-time or real-time and he just sighed and said "I don't know."

It was nearly the exact tone of voice and look of despair he had when he used to talk about paying off his student loans.

Also, if some new guys show up as a result of that, be nice.

I guess this is why everyone was kind to me?  And here I was trying to decide which of you I was most afraid of.

god i was a shithead back then

Yeah, I'm coming down from a bad bout of shithead-dom, mostly on some other game-y, talky forum.  I think it's cleared up, though.  I'm in between outbreaks, riding bicycles on the beach and stuff.

I'm just happy to see Ryan Gosling for any reason.

Um, also, I guess this is as good a place and time as any to bring this up (unless it's already been brought up): people on 4chan were falling over themselves to heap praise on this video, but since it's 4chan, I have no idea if this was done ironically or earnestly.  Either way, it's the worst video and the guy has a book out of the same name, so if you want to ruin your night, check out the reviews on Amazon.

I'm glad they had that little robot bug react to every scene in the trailer or I wouldn't have known how to feel.

Maybe I was thinking of Dragon Song.  I'm almost sure it was Dragon something that crippled you in a hideous way.

That cyber elf thing sounds kind of BioShock-y, so I guess I can act all morally superior to nobody in particular for not killing fictional characters.  Until I do, which will probably be justified in some way.

Dragon Quarter?  Final Fantasy VIII?

Dragon Quarter!  I think that's the one.  I forgot it even existed, but I still remembered how irritating that aspect was.

I'm not sure what a cyber elf is yet, so I'm not sure if it'll bother me too much.  If it's a big part of the game, that's just a reallly bizarre decision on their part.  "Here's this new system we came up with and don't you dare use it."

I've also never really played any non-NES Mega Man games outside of the first two X's and the first Legends, so I'm not sure how that'll go.  The cool 8-bit sprite work was always a huge part of the appeal.

There's another game that punishes you for using one of its main gameplay elements, but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head.

I guess I'll give it a try because it's pretty cheap, though.  Hopefully it'll be similar to Mega Man X in difficulty, where it starts off near impossible until you go scouring the levels for the little health upgrades.

Is this thread strictly for talking about canon?  I was thinking about picking up that Mega Man Zero collection thing for the DS, but I'm not sure if those are held in high esteem as far as actual gameplay goes.  I never tried any of them.

Um, but to try to keep with the theme of the thread (but not really), I've been kind of thinking after Mega Men 9 and 10 that Wily's final boss machines are his equivalent of the Facebook post, where he gets to show someone what he's currently interested in, even if it's just to a robot that hates him.

"You know, I think dinosaurs are really neat right now.  And skulls!  Hey.  HEY!  Who has two thumbs, eight robot masters, and really loves pirates?  THIS DOCTOR!"

It's kind of sad and adorable.  I wish my grandparents would do stuff like this, instead of whatever they do, because I honestly don't know.

I only just saw the first episode, so I'm really behind, but I enjoyed it a lot.  At first it seemed like it was going over the same ground, but I knew I was really going to like this series when Rick goes back for the half-a-zombie, says "I'm sorry this happened to you" and then puts her out of her misery.  That was really great.  I can't wait to see where this all goes.

That really wasn't a very useful post...  Um, but I like the show!
