Brutal Legend is a lot of fun but ends up being more of an RTS than a brawler, which was personally disappointing but not really an indictment of the game.

I found that treating the RTS sections as an excuse to do donuts on the enemy faction is ultimately the best option.  Sure, you still need to direct chunks of dudes to capture objectives, but anything more than that and you're better off applying enemy skulls to the business end of your bumper.

Torment was fucking fantastic.

I'm not sure how well its aged. Bear with the kind of boring opening thug-lair setting the stage and things will pick up a lot.

Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics, free through Saturday afternoon.

This DOS'ed the server for awhile but everything appears to be in good working order now.

EDIT: Whoops, beaten by Beat.  Well, still good to know.

On a perhaps related note: Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics are no longer available from GOG.

Yeah, they actually said that upfront -- apparently when Interplay sold the Fallout rights to Bethesda, it retained the rights to the original games, but now it's sold those to Bethesda too.

Meanwhile, Ars interviews GOG's managing director.  If you can get two paragraphs in without going to the site to look for SOMETHING to give them your money for, then you and I are very different people.

(But by the end he reminds you that you should fucking play the games you've already bought, dammit Thad.)

Nonetheless, if Witcher 3 were available for preorder I would have preordered it as soon as I finished that article.

They're not on Steam anymore, either.
