I'm surprised our Army/Navy/Air Force folks don't have more to share.

Sorry. Working at a desk 99% of the time limited the number of accidents I could have been in.

There WAS one time where they made me stand out on the flightline in the burning subtropical sun for eight hours with no warning while watching some contractors measure shit and I got a horrible sunburn all over my face, but that's it.

A consequence of constantly working in extreme environments, with heavy machinery and things that are designed to kill people I suppose.

I've heard stories from my one friend who worked at Dofasco for a summer. People getting squashed by giant metal buckets or having skin ripped off by rollers and such.

Once my dad pulled over on the highway because he had to pee, and about ten seconds later all the cars that had been around us got into a huge accident just up the road that blocked the highway going both ways. That's the closest I have been to death.

And once again the day is saved due to a weak bladder.

Remember in the summer of 2006, when there was that big hullahbaloo about terrarists trying to blow up planes with bombs disguised as energy drinks, but it was narrowly averted? One flight that was targetted was going from London Heathrow to Montreal Trudeau. I was flying from London Heathrow to Montreal Trudeau at approximately the same time. :ohshi~:

When I was on deployment in 2006, a F/A-18 C Hornet crashed on the flight deck one night.  Skidded across the deck and in to the drink, quick as nothin'.  Pilot got out of the plane fine, but one of my buddies nearly got run over by it.

Closest I've ever come was trying to POUND MY GEARS through a length of gravel on the side of the highway while on a bike, losing traction, falling to to my side, and having some dude going 70 miss the top of my head by inches. This was back when I was 15, I think.

I also got hit by a car outside a couple months back, when I was crossing the street and some retarded bitch (who it turns out I knew) turned right on a red without looking. No real injuries, I went up on the hood, rolled off, and did one of those arms-wide-open hellapissed gestures before she waved sorry and sped off.

That reminds me of another time I was almost killed.

Was cycling on the side of the road in the small town where I was going to university when an octogenarian in a Mazda van creamed me with his passenger-side mirror. Literally, one second I was biking, the next I was on the ground wondering what the fuck had happened. After another second or two I saw an oncoming car, I was like AH SHIT GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OH FUCK. Luckily it was all small town traffic, so it's not like anybody was going fast.

When I talked to the old fellow I just told him to go. The guy was pretty obviously in the early stages of senility and was probably long past the point at which he should have stopped driving. He barely  even knew what was really going on, just this stammering terrified little white-haired old accidental menace to society. I just felt really sorry for the guy and told him to go home and rest.

I mean, in retrospect I could have suffered a terrible injury I didn't notice at first and I probably should have reported the guy as a terrible hazard, but hey, I had just been run over, so I figure I was allowed to be a little disoriented.

You're too good a person.  Play that card right and you coulda traded your bike for a Mazda.

I've been Code Yellow quite often and Code... Red is it in the emergency room. For stupid shit like chest pains and heart beating faster than should be humanly possible. Each time I get popped full of pills and enter a sort of LaLa land. I cruise around on that for a bit then get released, slightly better. Not very interesting though.
