Can Steam's Big Picture Mode not suck on Windows?
« on: September 25, 2013, 07:36:35 AM »

Laundry list of issues and possible fixes.

  • BPM doesn't remember to restore correct desktop display settings. Suppose you have BPM set show on monitor B, but your desktop is displayed on A. BPM will change your desktop to be shown on B (nec-nec-nec-nec-necessary). The problem is that when you revert back to desktop mode, it won't set desktop back to showing on A.
  • BPM scatters your other programs' windows to the mother fucking wind while shuffling your monitors around.
  • BPM's implementation doesn't have an option to change default audio device when launching.

Fix for 3?: Find a program like ShiftWindow that will allow for triggering change in audio device upon BPM launch. TODO.

I'll come back to this soon. (That's what they always say.)

EDIT: I think it might be defaulting to fullscreen windowed, come to think of it. Hmm.

Man, I'd be happy if my Steam Friends list stopped resizing and centring itself (I keep it on the right, normally) every time there was a Steam update, or a Steam connection problem, or anything.

The monitor scrambling isn't even consistent.

While the menus work fine with my DirectInput controller, it doesn't work on the controller configuration screen and therefore I can't use it in Brutal Legend (which won't work with x360ce).

Nice that it runs fine on my Linux box, but I'm not sold on keyboard/mouse controls.

But yeah, Card Hunter, It's cool. It's a little bit grindy, but not enough to put me off and the whole cards in hand equals what you can do or be protected from that turn system it has going is cool. Is a guy's crazy armour fucking you over? Well you could hit him with a armour disolve or armour boil spell OR if you're clever, maybe you'll just hit him with a memory loss spell since it's been a few turns and you figure his armour is the oldest card in his hand.

Clearly Geo has been captured and had his brain shoved in a jar to power spambots.
