Muramasa: The Demon Blade

The closer to its release, the less mention I heard of it.  Did something go horribly wrong such that it wound up sucking?  Did people just forget about it?

I remember GameTrailies did a review of it where they said it was pretty good. *shrug*

I think all that happened was that it was a Wii exclusive.  :nyoro~n:

Good stuff if Odin Sphere was your bag.

This game is pretty fun, but the localization is extremely phoned-in.

Played around with it at PAX. It's like Odin Sphere with a really good combat system on completely the wrong console.

Indeed. Hopefully they'll pull a Viewtiful Joe and port it to a console that actually matters.

I really enjoyed Muramasa. It's incredibly fun - the Wii was a confusing choice because the motion never gets used, but the graphics certainly don't suffer.

Definately worth picking up.

Ordered it.  Wii is the only console I have access to, anyway.

I have this sitting on my shelf, unopened. Hopefully I'll get fired one day so I can actually play games again.

This is a bit like playing a painting.  The art is lovely, but there're regions that make me suspect the animations don't have as many frames as most other modern games.  It's not an issue in combat, but when standing around, I see it in little things like the idle animations and falling petals.

Reviving because I've been playing this for the last few days.

So, Muramasa:

Somebody tells me, Jinkuro Momohime, that the sword I've been looking for was stolen by a giant demon and taken to Hell. Being that I just don't give a fuck, I walk into Hell, kill a couple dozen tormenting monsters from the furthest recesses of hate, and convince the giant demon to swallow me whole so that I can start my complete and total vivisection of his person by cutting the shit out of his stomach lining.

And then I ask for my fucking sword back.

10/10.
