Shiiiiiiit.  Knew I should have checked on the game when I had the chance.  Might still have voted for suicide--really curious about the note Jacob was reading--but still.  Regret, etc.

(Also, thanks, Friday.  This was awesome and you are awesome.  Hope we get to hear about some of the paths not taken.)

Actually. after wreaking vengeance on those hunters, getting that note was something I really wanted to do.

Ask me specifically, and depending, I might give you an idea of my plans.

Yikes, that was abrupt.  Did we ever really have any hope of surviving, though?

Honestly, this was most likely going to end with player death. I would have bee greatly surprised if you survived all the way to my planned ending. So don't feel too bad. I made this hard on purpose from the start.

I mean, really, it's not easy to survive the apocalypse.

That's cheating. Worser still, it's a two option mulligan... so...

EDIT:

RE: Would I do it?
I'd probably charge immediately. Then again, protecting people (and being perhaps an unfair arbiter of who deserves protection) was a big part of my voting "strategy".

I would have liked to lose by becoming a faceless.  We're still aware of everything going on, we just can't control ourselves.  We still have normal choices but no matter what we choose we rip the faces off of our friends.  You know, the stuff of nightmares.

Hell. I missed the last vote while I was at work.

Personally, in the heat of the moment, I probably would have gone with one. But I would have voted for two.

I already had kind of a depressing day and this was a pretty nasty capper, but on the whole it's been a blast. It's a little frustrating to realize that you've been enjoying a book of which there's only one copy with half the pages torn out at the end. I'd push for some kind of mulligan, but that's not something that's up to me. Either way, it was a lovely time.

Stickied. I know Forum Games already has a million stickies but I figure some people might actually want to take the time to read all 59 pages of this shit instead of just the story posts. Anyway, I plan to reread the whole story, player posts and all, over the next couple of days before I start writing again.

I pressed my face against the glass, smiled as my breath made some pattern or other. The world beneath unfurled before me like a sail glinted in gold from this rich dawn sky. Awaiting the ship they had told me would come, quietly anticipating that which was to come. I couldn't yet see you, still obscured by the city. The towers of glass reflected your coming, silhouetted on the sunrise. Did I blink as I watched? Did I close my eyes?
I was not alone, I think it was the first time. Watching you rise splendid and graceful, I cheered as you sailed, a greatness unknown. I laughed as I waved and imagined you saw me. In the streets of the city, the windows of buildings, a million faces gazing upwards in wonder. A million faces together and cheering and smiling. You were the warmth of their hearts. You were the sum of their dreams. In the coldness of morning you brought warmth to their lives.
Giving this feeling of wonder I could not imagine you unlocking these thoughts, no book and no picture could ever convey this feeling, and morning had opened a door. I stepped into a new world. I watched you fly, saw you as a friend, the spirit of dreams. I imagined a new world, lands far away, and imagined those faces as you hung in their sky.
