And yeah, my next playthrough is gonna be without augs or saving outside of the autosave/checkpoints. I'm going to ignore all sidequests and just see how hard the game is.

they could have made it a lot better by just changing
"TURN OFF LIFE SUPPORT" to "DISCONNECT HYRONETTES FROM MCP"
and putting little Zs over their heads instead of skulls honest to god guys NOT COMPLICATED

I managed to make it OK in my brain by choosing the ending where everyone fucking died anyway

IF I CAN'T AVOID KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE I WILL KILL EVERY INNOCENT PERSON

I think I'd be ok with having to do the hard thing and kill some innocents for the greater good, if it wasn't presented in such a terrible way. Some hesitation? Some remorse? Iji handled the character's feelings on killing better.

I didn't do a nonlethal playthough, but instead only killed when I felt the people were really fucking asking for it. A guard just doing his job? Cool, I got no problem with you other than the fact that you're in my way. Tranq Rifle, Stun, or avoid entirely. But when those Belltower fucks
came crashing through the roof and slaughtered an entire hotel worth of innocent people?
Yeah, press and hold Q, motherfuckers.

Oh, and I really wanted to kill that corrupt cop O'Malley fuckhead, because I know that it's possible for someone as connected as him to dodge any case put to him, regardless of how thorough. But I got him arrested instead because it was what Jenny wanted. Sort of was expecting him to be back when I came back to Detroit. If he had been, I would have put him down for good.

I think the only other people I killed were the Belltower guys going after
Malik
, both because they deserved it for being fucking assassins and honestly I'm not sure I
could have saved her
using nonlethal methods.

The game gives up bonus exp for going nonlethal anyway, and there's basically no reason to ever hold Q unless you just want the satisfaction of a kill. Not that you need exp, at all.

OH! PROTIP! Getting emp shielding in the armor line makes you immune to fucking electricity. I didn't know this until the very end of the game! I would have got it a lot sooner otherwise!

I mostly carried around a non-lethal arsenal, EMP and gas grenades and mines, except for the 9mm. So that part involved augmenting my lungs, tasering and running around eating chocolate.

By the end of it though, I went around looking for any ZZZ and executing the survivors with the 9mm like some sort of sociopath.

I was non-lethal the entire way! But occasionally I would find dead bodies, I think maybe dudes got hit by explosions that weren't mine, and the game blamed me for it, so I didn't get the non-lethal achievement, I did get the no alarms one, though! Such a damn good game. Loved that stun gun.

Also, the best weapon for the boss fights was the remote explosives you get in the limited edition, you just throw three of them in a pile, lure the enemy onto them, and then run in and empty your assault rifle into their face.

I didn't mind the endings, I had the same problem, though, I wanted to know what happened to jensen and all the other characters I had grown to love! I wanted like a FF6 style ending with them flying around in an airship while you learn what happened to them or whatever.

So has anyone tried the DLC yet? I am wondering if it is as wedged-in as I thought it would be. I didn't think there was much to add into a period of time which originally boiled down to "I WAS IN A FUCKING POD."

I plan to run through it now that I've finished the game, before I go back and try the game again.

I played it on the PC with a wired 360 pad. The game insisted that clicking the right stick zoomed in the scope so I picked up a Tranq Rifle and tried to be stealthy, but it refused at all to register. So After my 7th game over trying to snipe people with a noscoping nocrosshare tranq rifle I fully upgraded the 9mm and it became a death gun. AP+Laser Sight+Damage+Rate of fire = pewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpew. Once the silencer was on there I could just hug a corner, pop out, headshot someone, and then wait one by one for each guard to come to investigate, and soon a whole pile of dead bodies in one area.

Social Battles were fucking AWESOME. It felt great to see that they got really fucking close to something that felt organic.
Darrow and Taggart
especially.

Boss battles were a pile of shit. I was told Deus Ex was this great game series where you could be a Comp Sci Major or Solid Snake and the bosses would still have a way to take it down and then I enter the room and oh that's a huge gun you haDEAD. Well th DEAD. Where's the hackDEAD Did you DEAD DEAD DEAD DEAD DEAD DEAD. Ended up having to play donkey kong and ring around the indestructable scenery with a shotgun.

At the end, I chose
to believe that there is still some innate good left in humanity as a whole with no leader, and blew everything the fuck up

Good job handing everything over to the Illuminati.
Of course, nothing you do can change the course set for Deus Ex original, so whatever.

Well, yes, I got the distinct impression that was I familiar with DX1, no matter which ending I chose, the end result would be "Status of world: Fucked."

So I chose which one I believed in if such a caveat didn't exist.
