Misfits

You know what's pretty good?  Misfits.  It's a British show about a group of young delinquents who get superpowers while performing court-mandated community service.  It's cleverly written and acted.

Misfits is pretty great. It's got some plot holes, particularly in regards to its use of time travel, but it's got great characters and a strange blend of comedy and drama that really works for it.

Yeah, I spent the whole time travel episode going "Well why doesn't he just...?"  But I think by the end it was clear that he doesn't actually relive the entire intervening sequence of events; he only gets to redo this one hour or so of his life and then things play out on autopilot.

Still a bit awkward, but sooner or later the show WAS going to have to deal with "Why don't you just go back in time and fix everything?"

Back to Misfits:

So is the tenth episode the first time they actually show the name of the community center, or did it really take me ten episodes to notice it's called Wertham?

Hadn't actually noticed that. That's about as appropriate a name as you could ask for.

Oh, I see.  Yes, while the first time travel episode does manage to maintain a sort of logic, yes by the end of season 2 it is well and truly riddled with plotholes -- people besides Curtis remembering things they shouldn't and even having video of things from the alternate timeline.
Simon having powers we're not aware of could explain away some of this, and his line about "the best time of my life" could I suppose be an indication that he remembered it.  But even allowing that, we still don't get any explanation of how he told Alisha that he knew in the "fixed" timeline, we just get a recap that shows the scene from the alternate timeline.
Keeping in mind I haven't seen any of season 3 yet.

Welp, finally got around to catching up.  Quite a good finale, really; there's one very obvious plothole that they don't shy away from and even kinda wave in our face, which means there's a reset button if they ever want to throw it.

Finally got around to reading Bleeding Cool's recent coverage.  Appears that Kelly won't be back, which I'm all right with; I think her character arc has been resolved satisfyingly and I don't need to see more of her.  (Indeed, season 3 kinda had that problem with Alisha; they just didn't seem to know what to do with her.  Or Curtis, once
he gave up his new power
, for that matter.

The Bleeding Cool article mentions that Lauren Socha, who plays Kelly, recently pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault of a cab driver; the studio, naturally, is denying that this has anything to do with her leaving the show.

Gross -- apparently she really IS a chav.

There are three knew characters joining the cast; BC has the non-spoilery casting calls for them.

Quote
Jess (Female)Jess is a kind of female version of Larry David - smart and articulate, She's the person who will say the un-sayable, the person who'll question social norms and etiquette. Jess hates people who bullshit and lie to her.

Finn (Male)Finn has a childlike naively optimistic view of life, he's always eager to please and enthusiastic about life.Finn talks a lot and often uses this to try and talk himself out of difficult or awkward situations. He is very funny.

Alex (Male)Alex is the sexiest guy on the estate. He is super good looking, all the girls fancy him but for some reason he is very standoffish, he doesn't seem interested in girls. Everyone reads this as being extremely suspicious and suspect it's power related.

Series 4 teases.  A look at the new characters, some hints at upcoming arcs; we won't see Simon and Alisha again this season but they might come back someday; the US version might not be a remake and could instead take place in the same universe as the original show.

Boy, that sure was 45 minutes of characters doing increasingly horrible things, all right!
