Sucks, but at least you're clear to participate in genocides.

Welp, finally got my hands on an OG Xbox game; can confirm that I set up the emulator properly and can totally play OG Xbox games.

Recommendations?

(The game I currently have is a borrowed copy of Destroy All Humans.  It's like a violent Katamari Damacy!)

I read Thad's post as "Original Gangsta Xbox" and pictured him as that owl.

Steel Battalion!

Which incidentally might be playable with a keyboard?

I hear good things about Otogi and Otogi 2 as Devil May Cryish action games.

Panzer Dragoon Orta, Gunvalkyrie, Sega's stuff in general.

The only original Xbox games I still own are Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time and Psychonauts, both of which are multiplatform. Oh, and Halo, I guess.

Orta is okay I guess.  It has the original in it which is something.

You could play Metal Wolf Chaos or just watch Smiler's LP of it, it's more fun to giggle at than play honestly.

Toejam and Earl III is not backwards compatible anyway, if you were morbidly curious.

That and JSRF is pretty much the rundown of notable exclusives though.  It just wasn't a very standout system.

I'll be dipped -- didn't realize Evil Controllers was local.  Now I'd REALLY like to give them my business.  If, you know, I could justify spending $100 on a video game controller right after being told I'm laid off.

Could use a third controller though, as I've got company coming.  Thinking I might just buy a used one at the local used game emporium.

Thinking I might just buy a used one at the local used game emporium.

I plan on going today.  Thinking I might go for a midrange wired controller -- Mad Catz, Razer, and Hori all look like they've got good options.  If I went Mad Catz I think I'd probably get another Street Fighter controller.  (I've got a wireless PS3 one that I use on the PC and I'm happy with it as long as I'm not trying to use it for something that wants an analog stick -- I tried using it for Majora's Mask, because of the sorta-N64-like 6 face buttons, but I was disappointed.)  Hori's also got a wired controller with 6 face buttons that might do the job and also has analog sticks.

Not that I play a whole lotta SF and the like on the 360 but I DO have that Capcom Digital Whatevermajig pack with SSF2THDROMGWTFBBQ, and I saw a copy of UMvC3 at the used game store the other day.  (Used => acceptable under my "no money to Marvel for exploiting Kirby" boycott.)

EDIT: Oh snap, Amazon's got that WWE stick for $35 again.

EDIT 2: Found a basic wired Mad Catz controller on clearance at Target for $12.  If I get a new job I can buy all sorts of crazy controllers, but in the meantime this'll get the job done.  D-pad is acceptable; I can do Shoryukens with reasonable precision and do not accidentally move things to the right or left when pressing Down in falling-block games.
