I seem to be in the minority, but I pronounce them "you're" and "your".

I sit down at the school computer and log on. "Oh," I think, "That clever thread sei started about pronounciation has gotten a few replies!" I click the latest entry...

After reading that entry I move my mouse to the "Reply" button with every intention of explaining rationally to Geothermal the difference between spelling and pronounciation, with perhaps a clever bit thrown in on colloquial language or pidgin english.

But I cannot start. I try and try to comprehend someone's mindset before making such a post to help me clarify my own points, but I am unable. Here, in all its glory, is a post so massive in its pre-birth that I am unable to start, inspired by what I can only assume is trolling.

I will try to emulate Geo's brilliant trolling in future posts. That's how good his post is.

Tangentially, one of the worst teachers I've ever had was my programming prof my freshman year.

As she was teaching us binary, she asked if "ten" was decimal or binary.  She didn't write down "10" and SAY that represented the number ten, she simply said "ten", out loud.

I responded that it was neither, that "ten" is English.

Unless it's Japanese.

Then it doesn't represent a number at all.

...except... it also does.

Japan hurts my brain.

I heard Cheney say "yer nation" on the radio today.  It sounded like he said something else.
