Every post in this thread must end with EL PRESIDENTE

Image of Bearded Dictator Smoking Cigar is optional.

So the expansion was on sale for $7 after the game itself was on sale for like $10 and I got three campaign islands in and this game rules, what's up with that.

I play all sorts of different ways, depending on what the situation demands. Usually toward the end game I forget that 300 people need more than four farms to sustain them (WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T EAT DELICIOUS CIGARS?!) and I start getting messages that the people are starving to death. Despite this happening in my last game, I still had an 85% approval rating when elections came around.

Seems like I had a subscription to Game Developer magazine or something where one of Tropico's designers had a monthly column and wrote how and why the game was designed as it was. Always seemed kind of interesting; I should probably pick it up, El Presidente.

I love the second radio station that the expansion adds. First of all, no matter what you do, it's part of your evil plot, but it also gets Juanito off your nuts a little bit, which is refreshing. I also like many of the new buildings. Wind turbines in particular add strategic depth by giving you an early game power option so you can make some industries efficient before you get into the later tiers of stuff that require a more extensive power grid. There's also the fact that when you build them, the rebel radio chick will occasionally chastise you for building windmills that are so brainwashed that they only spin WITH the wind, never against it. Bitch is crazy.

Down with El Presidente.

A large rebel force attempted to destroy a local farm. Our country's military fell to the scum, but EL PRESIDENTE rises to the occasion to quell the uprising.

All hail mighty war leader EL PRESIDENTE!

Despite having such a rocking Presidente, your flimsy military is a shame to you and your people. Now go artificially inflate high school jobs by building guard posts you pansy.

Okay, you are going to have to tell me how to do stuff like make a military. I am usually limited to about 6 troops no matter what I try. Do I have to ship in like 50 generals or something?

You have to have a high school, and places for the military to work, hence the guard towers. Generals can each support a certain number of troops, I can't recall how many. You can also build a military base if you want to make the military super happy, because all the military and their families can live there, and the military can work there, with good conditions for everyone involved.

The location of guard towers also determines how much military presence you have - you'll want to make sure you're putting them near things you're going to want to defend, and of course you'll need the regular infrastructure support to them.

Betty Boom is the voice of the people, even if the people actually love their benevolent overlord.
