Bacon is much like tomatoes, in that quality actually varies widely to such an extent that cheap bacon is nearly incomparable to good bacon.

...bread, too.  But not lettuce.

I've had turkey bacon and is not as good as normal bacon.

Imitation food is not a very good idea.

For several years when I was young, my parents suddenly swore off red meat so we only ate turkey, chicken, and occasionally fish. (And then, just as suddenly, they started serving red meat again. It was very odd.) The result was that I grew to love turkey products, especially burgers, bacon, chili, and hot dogs... although I have yet to go to a restaurant that serves turkey burgers that taste half as good as homemade with ground turkey or even the storebought Jennie-O brand.

both of you would be happy with boat breakfasts then.  The bacon there is either one or the other...sometimes in the same steam tray. :ohshi~:

Lettuce may just be lettuce, but once it starts to go watery it's hell.

A long time ago, I once saw an informal poll of ex-vegetarians, asking them their reason for resuming meat consumption. The number one listed reason was 'the smell of bacon'.

If you can't resist meat, that's a fucking sign.

I think vegetarian is just something you're born to be.  Like homosexual.

Fags.

Also, Koipond is an extremely strict vegan (he's actually the most hardcore vegan I know) but he also has no problem with people around him eating meat.

I've taken up this attitude as well. I don't bother easily over people eating meat because I'd rather not pick a fight with 95% of the people I live around.

Oh, and
FUCKING NOTE: The B-12 in your goddamn vitamins comes from critters. If you don't like that then you can see how long you last without red blood cells.

B12 comes from bacteria found in animals and plants. There is more of it in animals because animals tend to absorb more of the bacteria, you know, through eating. Furthermore, you don't actually require that much B12 on a daily basis, so even if plant-derived b12 requires more resources, I still break even.

...

See? This is why I don't enjoy arguing about food choices. I tend to run into people, like Sharkey, who either haven't done the research, get off on hectoring people, or both.

How's this been working out for you? Legitimately interested.

Well, I'm actually quite

Büge should be lynch voted Day 2.

Researched the hell out of it, in fact, and you've never seen such a mass of lies, misinformation, and lack of formal study. If you can find a non-animal supplement that provides a B12 variant (there are many forms of the compound) that has actually been found to be useful in a real trial, congraturation. I'm not only damn impressed (and rightfully suspicious,) but also guarantee that damn near nobody does that much looking into it. I've never seen any commercial supplements that are neither animal sourced or possible expensive snake oil.

I do, however, get off on hectoring people. And consider it a noble calling that deserves more reward than it usually gets.
