Also the 'freak' label is kind of old-fashioned and horrible

I hadn't seen any of these at some point.

And of COURSE the word freak is horrible! The members of a freak show intended such when they named it! Didn't you know that freak shows are owned by the performers?

Imagine the psychology of a freak show: First of all, notice that in no picture of any of these three people are any of them smiling and showing their teeth. Their smiles are faked. None of them are happy with their differentness because it's all people see when they look at them. A freak show is full of people who all understand this fact, and exploit their conditions to sucker ordinary folk into paying for their nomadic lifestyles. Behind-the-scenes, they're comforted by the proximity of those who understand them. It must be one of the closest cliques imaginable! I... I wish I was a freak! I bet the comraderie is second only to, say, being a Marine POW with someone or surviving a zombie outbreak.

Those people aren't performers.

You must have missed that other thread.  I don't see anything wrong with this, unless we're so obnoxiously PC that we can't call freaks freaks.

You freak.

Oh shit, some guy who knows his movies was telling me about this great documentary-sort-of-deal from way back about a freak show troupe in California or some such place that people were trying to get shut down, because it was "degrading", and the performers were all up in arms about it. One of them had some lawyer training and defended them in court, and of course the judge ruled in their favour.

Damnit I wish I knew what this movie was called.

EDIT: I think I am confusing this movie and a story the same guy told me.

I remember seeing a documentary about a girl who had two heads. The second was horribly malformed, and mostly melded with her other head, though a small second neck was visible. The face, her twin, was slack and dead.

She lived out on a ranch with her family far away from everyone.

I saw it a long time ago, though, so I may be misremembering details.

I think it's interesting how random genetic mutations or rare diseases or whatever can lead to shit like that. I mean, since the people affected by them aren't getting LASER VISION or TELEPORT or whatever, it really sucks for them, and they have my sympathy (if they want it) but I find it fascinating.

You think Abigail and Brittany Hensel would ever pose nude? It's probably the closest thing anyone with a conjoinment fetish would get for fap fodder.

They had a program on the girl with the enormous legs.  I felt deeply saddened for her, and she really didn't want to get her legs amputated even though they're basically going to destroy her heart because it has so much strain on it from pumping blood to the enormous legs.  And she had to have special shoes made for her big feets, and one of her feet is sideways-sorta-backwards.
