The Holiday Thread
« on: May 26, 2008, 04:19:27 PM »

Happy Memorial Day everybody!

I'm at a BBQ and I've had a couple beers (nobody surprised). I also went swimming! Rosencrantz threw the ball out of the fenced-in pool area twice and broke his sandal retrieving it. We played Mario Kart and I got last place every time, but that was probably because racing games are  not my forte. Rockman's hair is still spiky from the pool. His girlfriend Nik made homemade apple pie that is literally the best apple pie I have ever eaten. I'm planning to steal it right before I leave.

Now we are grilling steak and corn on the cob and red potato and pork loin shishkebabs (SP) on the back porch. Afterwards we're going to play Rosen's Breath of Fire (3.5 ed. D&D) RPG.

Hooray for holidays!

A throat infection canceled all my plans for the weekend, while my computer simultaneously caught a virus that blocked half of my internet access, including this very forum.

Bah, Humbug!

Up here in the frozen north, we celebrated Victoria Day, weekend before last. Celebrating Victoria Day involves getting drunk, high, and then asking what the fuck we're celebrating on Victoria Day. And Nobody Ever Knows.

This was the weekend I went camping with some classmates. The campsite, 1.5 hours away, took a full 10 hours to get to, due to poor directions and holy fuck pitch black logging roads. Alcohol and cannabis were consumed, and I partook mildly in both. As these were the only diversions available, I was not as entertained as I might have been. But good times were still had.

If Victoria Day were not celebrated, summer would never come.

Or more to the point, if you didn't hit that blunt, the entire summer food crop would never grow, and billions would starve. To death.

So, uh, relax, ya know?

I ate very expensive food and saw Iron Man which was also very expensive because i had to pay for everyone because nobody wanted to have to pay to see Iron Man. I actually have the whole week off work, which is awesome if you pretend like it's paid time off!

I had my friends over to play D&D, since statutory holidays are the only days when we're all not working.

Later, we watched fireworks from my balcony. Some of them seemed to be aimed from, and towards, my building. It was like a festive war zone!
