...Because Good is DUMB
« on: November 22, 2010, 08:35:53 AM »

'voted to take away health care for cancer survivors' or 'voted to take away health care for veterans with congenital heart failure' would be a great sound bite once Fox and the republican media machine can't bullshit their way around things anymore.

Because the Democrats current record on stirring leftist rhetoric is shining so brightly.

We've reached the point in America at which we are angry with our politicians for not being douchebag enough.

yes. FUCK moderation. We have way too much god damned cooperation on our side of the aisle. It's like Obama is literally sexually excited by being called bipartisan.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but partisan politics gets shit done, esp when the overwhelming majority of the republicans in congress right now elected by being farther to the right than the guy they ran against. It does not behoove the Dems to stand in the center when Republicans are rushing like lemmings to be the first off the cliff to the right. As for negative campaigning, it's been around for millenia for a reason. Negative campaigning is why we remember Caligula as an orgy-throwing homosexual hedonist who fiddled while Rome burned, and why we remember Catherine the Great as a woman who died fucking a horse. Negative campaigning works. Being soft and positive is more pleasant, but it does not stick in people's memories.

Yeah, fuck ethics.  Race to the bottom!

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

this has nothing to do with ethics at all. It has only to do with the ruthless will to see your political views imposed on the nation. You don't actually have to cheat to do this!

Yeah, fuck ethics.  Race to the bottom!

Well, Gore and Kerry ran ethically in 2000 and 2004. 7,000 American soldiers and about 5? trillion dollars in debt later, we can see where ethics got us.

Get this shit out of your political vocabulary. No politician has ever won by being the better man. Lincoln, Jefferson and Kennedy all ran on negative platforms.

That was Nero. Caligula instituted bloody purges against his percieved enemies and wanted to appoint a race horse as consul.

You're confusing ethics with Pollyanna-ism.  I would say that Gore and Kerry play-acted at being "fair" to the point of actually sacrificing their ethics -- Gore in particular.

I submit that it is not ethical to pretend an asshole is not an asshole.  (I could be talking about Bush or Lieberman there; it doesn't really matter.)

Also, "We got into Iraq because Democrats are too ethical" is pretty much a bullshit claim.  We got into Iraq because Democrats didn't think it was politically advantageous to put up a fight.  (I could be talking about Gore or Congress there; it doesn't really matter.)

BTW, the President and Congress who have continued the wars, the coverups, and the torture, and also authorized assassination of American citizens and sexual abuse at airports, are Democrats.  So, you know, that's where sacrificing ethics for the sake of political expediency has gotten us.

...aaaand this is the part where everybody tells me it's my fault for voting for Nader.  Goodnight everybody.

That's convenient.

Now that we've established that we must dispense with ethics, we can dispense with the need for rules, traditions, or anything short of shooting people in the face until we get what we want.

Okay now we're getting silly, but yeah, Thad put what I wanted to say in a way that made sense, mainly "If you ask for assholes with a Democratic label, then assholes with a Democratic label is exactly what you'll get."

Lieberman isn't even a democrat, though, and i swear i'll bite you if you seriously press this point. And the democrats deciding it isn't politically expedient to do their fucking jobs, for which they are paid pretty fucking well, is exactly the fucking problem.

No shit.  He was still Al Gore's running mate, and the party's still tripping over itself to kiss his ass.

You know what happens when a Republican loses a primary and then beats the Republican nominee in the general?  She loses her committee chairs.
