Schrödinger's Wolf
« on: January 06, 2010, 10:22:20 PM »

A mini game for nervous people to futz with while VvW6 goes on. It will be over well before VvW6 and shouldn't be taken too seriously unless it becomes omf serious. Feel free to be a spaz if it will help you not be one in VvW6. The roles are hella vanilla, with a small twist.

One of these four setups will be used. Nobody but the moderator(s) will know which. (1d4 roll)

1 Werewolf, 1 Werewolf Seer, 1 Seer, 1 Baner, 5 Innocents
1 Werewolf, 1 Werewolf Seer, 7 Innocents
2 Werewolves, 1 Seer, 6 Innocents
2 Werewolves, 1 Baner, 6 Innocents

At first glance, it might look like one or two of these are more heavily balanced toward victory than another for a specific team. In actuality, the *not* knowing is what gives the game balance. The inno team can't trust that it has a baner. The wolves can't trust that the innos don't have one. In over 200 games with this setup, the wolves have won roughly half.

I've never seen a game with this setup last longer than three days. It can, but the innos are never that good. Like I said, a mini-game.

I want a competent co-moderator to help run the game. I insist on someone who has never moderated a game before and would like to get their feet wet. Post your interest both for moderating and playing here, and you can sign up for both. Don't worry if you mess this one up. It's just a small game, and everyone wins if everyone suffers. NO GUILD RULES. This is a non-nazi game.

Signups will stay open so long as at least one person signs up per day.

Sure, I'll play. Friday's game's already not updating enough to satisfy my appetite.

I clicked this hoping it would be a game where every player didn't know if they were dead or not until the end of the game.

I've played these kind of variations before. They're nerve-wracking, but usually in a way that adds to the fun, impo.

This game is supposed to be simple, however, so the rules stand as-written for THIS game.

Leaving this up because it got a few responses.

I'm going to say I'm playing this, then completely forget until I have a PM with my role.

I'd be happy to moderate, but I don't want to do so while in another game. Don't cross the streams, etc

THAT'S IT!

Rolling roles. Meikai is getting copies of all PMs. Make sure you CC her or you might not get updates.
