You know, I'd like to rise above violence and say the killing of Osama bin Laden was unfortunate, and for the most part I do, until I'm reminded that when the pressure was on he showed his character by using one of his wives as a human shield.
Fuck that guy. Seriously. Fuck. That. Guy. And good God damned riddance.
That didn't actually happenI'm not really going to defend the character of Osama bin Laden. I'm the most peacenik, anti-violent hippy on the boards right now, but I'd never defend the man. Just, you know, I'm all about holding people responsible for the things they actually did, not made up stuff.
That said, as I've made clear, this isn't really something I could ever see myself pumping my fist, beating my chest and celebrating about. Yeah, the man was evil, but he used to work for us. His actions, the events of 9/11, the bombings years early at the World Trade center, those were motivated by the imperialist strategies of the US. The same ones we're carrying out right now. The same ones that have led to countless lives lost overseas. I won't revel in the man's death, or any man's death, and what he did is indefensible. But the attitudes I've seen from a lot of people cheering the administration on only encourage more war, more bloodshed.
