I still don't get this deal with engineers somehow being more vulnerable to spies when using a wrangler. You are mobile and can ACTIVELY SPYCHECK WITH YOUR SENTRY. Wrangler engineers need to get over this tunnel vision BS.
Not really, considering the sentry will cause friendly fire damage to you at best. If you're careless, a couple of hits and a rocket from your sentry is sure to be fatal. Also, the only time I would ever use a wrangler for any length of time WOULD be from a sniper position. Which is retarded and pretty gay besides. I think it's much more fun (and useful) to actually leave the thing in intelligent positions. The wrangler is good and overpowered if you can use the shield to tank damage wisely, but the normal sentry is still best at pure area denial.

Oh wait, I forgot that you guys suck, can't aim and get ran over by mediocre spies all day long. Sorry, please proceed.

(though I must ask, why would you turn around to spy check while holding down M2? I mean, even sucky people should be able to handle that incredibly difficult act of multi tasking)

I was using my wrangler to spy check at a friendly engie's nest. My sentry was placed in such a way that is was a bit more exposed than the nest, but if anybody approached the nest with the dispensers and teleporters, or if there was a single sapper placed on a building, I could fire a bunch of rockets and bullets, kill the spy and then leisurely get rid of any remaining sappers.

So pretty much what I'm saying is that there's really no use for the pistol anymore, and this coming from a guy who really liked the pistol.

I got a random Gunslinger and took it for a spin.

I can never go back.
