Analogue: A Hate Story
« on: April 27, 2012, 10:34:37 AM »

So, this game was actually created by a pretty good pal of mine and I feel the need to give her a plug to maybe get a small bit more attention even if it's just from this community and because it's a genuinely fascinating read. Especially if you're not that well read on Korean history.

But anyway! It came out a bit ago, but today it was just released on Steam and that's as good a reason as any to look back into it, right?

I've been rather curious about the title.  RockPaperShotgun and... some other website, forgot which, had rather wonderful things to say about it.

I'm just trying to avoid buying videogames at all at the moment, so I may have to wait until this goes on sale.

Have you read Digital: A Love Story Syl? It's completely free, for the record.

I expected a bit more meat for the price, but it was an interesting way to spend a couple hours and I could see myself being a completionist about it once the details fade from memory.

I'm not even entirely sure what I mean by "meat" here. It's often cleverly realized and almost always fascinating; I guess I just wish there was more figuring out to do.

Huge and clever interface shakeups aside, it's still essentially a VN. What were you expecting exactly?

Welp. I couldn't sleep and decided to play Digital: A Love Story. That was pretty fucking great.

I just played Digital the other day too. Really nicely done, but much like Don't Worry Babe, it kind of falls flat at the end. Now I'm curious whether Analogue suffers the same fate. I like Love's work a lot, she just needs to learn how to stick the landing.
