It's everyone else's job to prove to you that they're interesting enough to be worth your time. And if they do, that's when you go for their throat.

I recently read through the complete Calvin & Hobbes, and I'm still not sure if that's a direct Calvin quote or not.

The stronger you punch, the better the door. So there are like super strong murderers who punch people into Venetian doors and shit"

RULE #1 OF SMALL TALK

Don't shove hot dogs down your throat before attempting to initiate conversation.  It tends to make it difficult to be heard.

so all this can be applied to getting a girlfriend right

The whole "confidence" thing doesn't hurt, but I think people tend to understate the role that luck plays.

For example, tonight I totally hit it off with a girl, but it turns out she A) has a boyfriend and B) lives 50 miles away.

When you live in LA, you learn to just sort of deal with both of those things.

The optimal solution is to not live in LA.

Not to literally steal your desired partner away from their original dating/living conditions?

Hey, that's what I did.

Then again, Baltimore isn't much in the way of competition.
