Romania

:vampire: But enough talk...

Why is MacDougall going to Romania again? Seems like an odd (if not un-nice) location to pick, barring a visit to relatives.

I'd say vampire jokes about Romania are too damn easy but it's really the only damned thing that's interesting about the place.

So I forgot to ask the other day: Changes to Egypt. Good, bad, ugly?

Not sure if the map is balanced necessarily, but my overwhelming impression is how much of a cop-out the fixes are. EVERYBODY loves one-way gates, 'impenetrable' sheet metal, and random piles of crates. The maps now feel very cluttered and half-assed. The alternate paths are now taken by almost no one... everything about Egypt seems to always degerate into the two sides rushing out to slam-dance with one another.

Also, I noticed that a fairly good team can now hardcore fortress the first point on the first map, leading to non-stop spawncamping action (As if we didn't already have that problem with the later stages, now you can do the same on the very first stage too!).

I don't know. My opinion is that the maps were mildly broken before, but that the fixes were anything but. Not all the changes are bad, such as the moved up spawn point for the first half of the first stage, but the map needs work badly now. Egypt had a lot of potential, but is now just an aggravating hellhole, whether I'm winning or losing.

I never liked Egypt in the first place, but the changes sound like they poured hot wank over an already steaming pile of shit.

They need to just call it CP_Engineer and get it over with.

Well, there was a LOT of nerfing of engie spots. The problem (at least on the first stage) is that they gave the engies replacement spots that are MUCH WORSE.

So instead of the game bogging horribly at 1st stage 2nd point, you just get spawncamped for 7 minutes. The later two stages are a godawful mess. They fucked with all the sniper and engie spots, ripping out walls, platforms, paths, sniper nests replacing them with... piles of random junk? Though I'm not as sure, since I've played the later stages less (and now I'll probably never see them again).

Like I said. Nothing screams POORLY MADE MAP! like one-way gates does. I know some teams can have fun with them, but that does not redeem the concept.

Apparently Geo is vindicated, seeing as how the Valve crew are rather tickled by Gang Garrison.

Honestly, while I think the new update makes some awesome changes (CP gamemode), it also makes it less fun.  The killcam is only funny the first time or two, and it feels like it takes way too long to respawn now.

On the other hand, supercharge means less stalemates.

niku you get to set respawn time when you make a server, so it's probably just people making the servers being terrible.

Pfft, I needed no vindication. Anyone who didn't like Gang Garison just has no taste or sense of humour. They are to be pittied, not debated.

Need a little 8-bit style Abandoned 4 Death next.  It would make a great bullet-hell game.

Wait, what's the new update?

(I haven't played in a week or so and won't be able to for a bit unless I get something fixed).

Wait, what's the new update?

Niku speaks of the new update to Gayng Gayyison, not Team Fortress 2 proper.
