Apparently I had 18 sniper achievements. Only item I cared about get.

By the by, anybody know what achievement level corresponds with which item? I can't seem to find that on Steam anywhere just yet.

All I know is that the Dead Ringer is the last spy unlock.

Once I realized I didn't have all my settings minimized properly, I figured I could try giving TF2 another shot. I'm making progress! But the performance issues are still such that Sniper and Scout are decisively my two least-played classes.

That's okay!  Valve implemented 6 other classes that are all fun as well!

I'm tempted to turn all my settings to minimum just to see if it affects anything.

My comp is getting older but is still overpowered enough that I'm inclined to say "no", at least inasfar as anything that would ever affect my performance with a class, but you never know.

UPDATE: In about 20 minutes of playing Scout I got about 2 points.  So, no.

(Then in frustration I switched to Demoman, revenge-killed all my nemeses, and capped the final point.  But still no.)

I was playing steel tonight on the Toycave Batman something something server on defense. Right away I go engineer and build up a level 3 sentry and dispenser on the nook just outside the spawn door, pointing at the cliff BLU can run up. I turtle this for a minute or two. Occasionally a spy will come up and try to sap my stuff, but he usually runs up as an engineer and I AM THE ONLY ENGINEER so I end up dominating him pretty quickly. As soon as I hear that wonderful DA DAA DAAA DAAAAA I get kicked. Try to rejoin and turns out I was banned

Forgot to mention that when I was kicked it said "Kicked: General cheats/exploits" which I found insulting

I've had a much higher incidence of spies accusing me of some sort of make-them-visible-and-undisguised cheat recently, undoubtedly because of the spy patch.

A surprising number of people seem genuinely unaware of such basic spy mechanics as, "When you are disguised and I try to walk through and I can't I will gun you the fuck down so you'd better try and sidestab me right away," and, "When you are a Heavy standing next to a dispenser it is good to whirl your mouse around like you're having muscle spasms while shooting constantly."

I don't know, I don't remember his name.

Nor had some problems after the spy update with new people playing who would get pissed and think he was cheating because he "knew to light them on fire" etc

pretty funny imo

Spend enough time as any one class and you will know exactly how to kill it.

To kill a monster, you must first become a monster... and then get killed.

Therefore, you must become the Doom to defeat it.

Doom would argue that he never dies. But only a fool would tell him he doesn't.
