Congrats, you are all well on your way to arguing about a fictional character's quantity of digits, made by a team who loves teasing its fanbase.

Let's keep going. Maybe the next class update will feature some throwaway text about "THUMBS: ARE THEY FINGERS?"

So Gunboats and Camera Beards are dead weight, right? Absolutely nothing I can do with them?

camera beards craft like any other spy items.  gunboats can be crafted into scrap or tokens once you have three or four gunboats.

Today while going through an old MTG magazine from 1999, I discovered an old review of the original Team Fortress as ported over to... Half Life.

This version of Team Fortress classic actually had all nine classes more or less as they exist now.

TFC was awesome. I think at one point it was the second-biggest online FPS after Counterstrike, with a huge gap between the two.

It had a few notable differences from TF2. Characters had both health and armour, and engineers could repair armour. Friendly fire could damage armour but not health, so spychecking involved mutual firing into the air. Characters could hit a key to jettison ammo for the engineer to pick up as metal.

Every class had grenades. Regular grenades you dropped when it looked like you were losing a fight, so that the grenade might catch the guy and net you a posthoumous kill.

Spies could disguise and feign death, but not cloak.

Medics had to be in melee range of someone to heal them, ubers didn't exist, and their healkit infected enemies with a disease that was incurable except by another medic. This was horribly effective when an infected newbie ran into spawn, keeping himself alive on healthpacks, and infected his entire team. Medics were actually considered an offensive class, not a healer class. Medics had concussion grenades, which you mainly used to grenade jump onto the battlements of 2fort, which everyone played all the time.

Scouts had no scattergun or double-jump and were worthless except for flag captures. They had concussion grenades, but medics were more popular.

Pyros were useless.

The only classes was the medic, the soldier, the engie, and the heavy. If you were playing 2fort the sniper would make a guest appearance. The only thing I miss from TFC is Muderball. I want to play some TF2 murderball so bad, but I don't think Valve is going to give us a green and yellow team anytime soon.
