Okay.  Dudebros with a freakin' Mac.

If you don't have TF2 yet, it's out, free to play this weekend, and if you get it on the Mac, then valve gives you an earbuds accessory.

Since I'm a terrible whore of a person, I must have these earbuds, so I am humbly requesting anyone with a Mac to help me obtain these fabled devices.

if you haven't seen the new training mode yet, take a look at it when you have a chance. it's a neat (and brief) little tf2 tutorial that has you as the soldier, going through how to shoot things, how to capture points on dustbowl, and describing what the medic and engineer do. closest thing to single player tf2 there is~

also: if anyone wants the earbuds and is willing to tell me their steam username + temporary password so i can log on my mac for you, send me an pmsg on IRC, or an IM on aim or something.

Yeah, I got that too.
I also tried out the training.  It's very dull, but it's the straight basics so it should be.  No rocket jumping, shooting from mid-rocket jump, blasting players into the air and shooting them before they fall, or blasting people into hazards..  Which are what I hoped would be in the 'training'.  I kinda hope they add 'advanced training' later with that kind of stuff, because that would increase overall skill level and make the game more awesome.

I don't know what I like more about this update: the comic or that I'm now able to connect from my new home.

Heh heh. It barely digs holes.

Edit: Nope. I guess being connected to the VAC servers was a one-time thing.

I feel bad that the TT guys struggled a bit last night.  What sort of effort could we put forth to mitigate that so it doesn't happen again tonight?

Since scrambling works, maybe we should get rid of auto-scramble and just make sure we votescramble when it's clear we need to.

Since scrambling works, maybe we should get rid of auto-scramble and just make sure we votescramble when it's clear we need to.

Only if it requires less than a 50% vote.  Somewhere around 30% or 40% would be fine.  But on too many servers there's a habit of people on the winning team to vote to keep the teams that combines with a habit of some people to just not vote.  Thus 5 people are left spamming !scramble and yet nothing changes.

I don't our server really has that problem though. We have a fair number of players who can dominate but I find most of them are willing to vote for a scramble when things are lopsided.

Yeah, the free weekend thing is what was bad.  Yesterday on Lolcano the regulars and a handful of others were spamming RTV and votescramble and nothing happened D:.

Well we did scramble quite a few times. Problem was it didn't really work. Just gotta keep scrambling until teams are even, I guess.

I missed granary, but freight was indeed great. I suddenly learned how to be a demoman. Then somehow forgot later when I came back.

I only caught one match of it, nothing spectacular happened D:

I wish I had a mic, I would of told all the fail-Engie's to move their shit up.  It wasn't really ANNOYING, since the match was overall pretty fun, but just seeing them build at spawn, or at best at the second point when were were contesting the fourth or even fifth was really just pathetic.

Like that guy on Freight who built on top of the pile of boxes outside of spawn.  What exactly was that sentry supposed to do?  It couldn't even fire on the point!

And damn, playing Spy makes me embarrassed for people.  :;_;:

FPS improvement tricks

Mostly posting this for myself, so I can find this later to possibly experiment with. But hey, if any of you want to give these things a try, go for it. Lemme know how it works out.
