The engineer comic is spectacular.

That is all.

Theory: A dispenser that revives allies that die within a certain radius. Or possibly a weapon that allows the engineer to go around reviving dead bodies.

I think the idea was that the whole live-forever-machine wasn't nearly as interesting as GUNS.

Facts learned:
The announcer's name is Emily.  (I'm assuming she's that old.)
The Pyro, or at least the Pyro's grandfather, is Abe Lincoln, Abe Lincoln's evil twin, or a clone of Abe Lincoln.
The Engineer's name is Dell Conagher.
Assuming the current mercs are all the grandchildren of the old ones, the spy is 1/4th Chinese and the Heavy is 1/4th Black.
Valve is spying on us.  I evidence this with THE MAYOR in the background.
Everyone in Australia has a mustache.
Austrailium is the best element on the periodic table.

Did I miss anything?

Edit:  The first point I'm willing to give up is that the current mercs are all the decendants of the old ones.

However I will not give up my assertion that the Pyro is Abe Lincoln in some form or another.  This is a fact.

The mercs are not descendents of the "oldy-timey" mercs.

Quote
Scout = Billy the Kid
Soldier = Stonewall or another Confederate Soldier
Pyro = Abraham Lincoln
Demoman = The original TF2 Demoman design
Heavy = John Henry
Engineer = Nikola Tesla
Medic = Not sure
Sniper = Davey Crocket
Spy = The Yellow Peril

These folks seem to have wrung just about everything out of the comic they could

Ok, Pyro is still Zombie Lincoln, though.

So yesterday I was walking around in my Medic shirt when some guy says "GET BEHIND ME DOCTOR!" Turns out it was this guy who plays Heavy all the time. We talked about the update for a while and traded Steam IDs. He happened to be wearing the Heavy shirt.

We don't have an "slightly amusing coincidences that happened today" thread, so I tossed it here.

I've had similar things happen to me, except instead of a shirt it is my ethnicity and instead of guys who play Heavy it is always guys who play Engineer and think I need to hear about how much they hate Demoman. Because clearly I had a hand in it.

So... if I read that correctly, you're black and random white guys who play engie come up to you and complain about Demomen?

That's, uh.... well, we have an emote for that.

Also I think Mongrel missed the tip-off that you're actually Scottish or wear an eye-patch or are an alcoholic.

Ok. Bear with me here. This is probably stupid but it's been bothering me for a while and the answers I've come up with were proved wrong.
You can create your own servers.
Item drops per server per X amount of time are limited.
The more people you are playing with, the less likely you are to get an item.
You can get item drop is your own servers.

So why not just create a server, password protect it, and idle for the night? Why do people rush off to idle servers if it's more beneficial to make your own and secure it?

You don't get less drops if there's more people, you get the exact same amount no matter how many people are in the server. Drops aren't server dependent, they are based on an internal countdown tied to yourself.

I knew the part about being tied to the internal limit. I was under the impression, though, that drops were server dependent as well. Was that before all of the drop limits and whatnot happened? Didn't it used to be so many drops per hour per server?
