Now that the engineer update is done, we have the polycount to look forward to.

This sentry re-skin is pretty snappy.

Man, that takes me back. That's the tune he was playing in the pre-release Meet The Engineer trailer. Only Medic and Pyro left now? Get on that shit, Valve. I need the whole set.

The Engineer song is apparently a Wilco song:

Jeff Tweedy "Someone Else's Song" Live Acoustic

I've covered that song in some venues. The album version is better - his voice is a lot more low, and the entire tune just sounds more melancholy.

I can't. Been trying to load the damned polypack page for half an hour without success.

Guess someone failed to ensure their website could handle the input of thousands of scouts frantically machinegunning F5.

Also, these are the WINNERS, there were other submissions valve thinks are good enough for inclusion and will add at some later point in time

TF2 now has an Albert Camus reference.

Good.  Because honestly, the Medic could use some shiny new toys.

I looked at the polycount page because it finally came back up and saw this

Out of the 70 or so entries that Valve received, Robin tells me that nearly half of the entries are of a high enough quality to be shipped in future updates without much work needed on Valve side

That is a lot of new items

One one hand that sounds great. On the other hand, I already can't get a decent framerate anymore.

It's very unlikely that they will actually implement more than a small portion of them.

But yeah, Medic needs new toys.

Wait...
70/2=35
4*9=36

That only winds up being about 3 items and a hat per class.

So, just enough to break the game if implemented all at once! :perfect:  Because we all know how good their beta testers are for finding balance issues. ::(:

Ughhhh. So, my ongoing framerate issues. I think I have isolated the problem. Training mode runs as smoothly as buttered silk, and I only get the teensiest bit of slowdown in a large bots mode game, but the second I connect to a server it remains choppy as hell. Virtually unplayable.

So I suppose that means the network settings are the problem here. Something to do with lag compensation, perhaps. But if I ever broke those settings, I can't imagine how, because I can't find them in the options menu.

Maybe this belongs in the make up your own unlockables thread, but.

I would like to see something given a more interesting downside than what there has been, like the downside of making the Sandman work on them like it use to.  Or won't charge a medic's uber when you have it out.  Or takes more damage from X (in a different way than the Pain Train).

Like a melee weapon for a mid-range class that does high damage and knocks them the hell away from you but makes you more vulnerable to fire, close-range stuns, bleeding and maybe even beheading.  Allowing you do get them the fuck away from you, and back into your optimum range, but making close range all that more of a threat.

I fixed my framerate issues! Hooray!

Now to learn me these new maps and maybe see if I can stomach Engineering long enough to get the Gunslinger.
