Combine a purchased key with a dropped candy cane to make a candy key, open the box with that.  Best of both worlds.

Hah.

Well, I got a Christmas crate tonight, as did a couple other folks. Whatever else happens, I don't think they're supposed to be very rare.

Isn't that partially why they made the beta open?  So achievement-whoring, item-worshiping people could be made useful by exploiting their weakness of being amazingly easy to manipulate?

Actually, the beta is more like TF2 without all the bullshit, no item drops, no hats, and for the most part no unbalancing polycount items save for the needed spy buffs.

I'll play more of the beta as more players move into it. Also, as soon as I stop feeling like a god with the soldier set in regular tf2, that shit is bananas.

Can you still craft things in TF2Beta?

No, and anyway there'd be nothing to craft.

People were crafting black boxes and degreasers when crafting was still enabled, but they are among the few items that you're much not supposed to have, everything else is given to you for free.

Why not include the polycount items? I don't think they're all that game-breaking, especially if everyone has access to them.

After that is was so painful it was hard to laugh.

Until the other guys started talking again.

In one of the more odd coincidences of my life, one the nicknames for one of our cats-of-many-nicknames is "The cute trout", due to his markings.

On the Quebec server, there's a semi-regular user, whose username is "La Truite Dodue", which translates exactly as... The Cute Trout.

Actually, "dodue" means "plump". You'd be looking for "la truite mignonne".

Sorry? :nyoro~n:

Huh, I thought they both meant cute on a broad sense, but dodue had the connotation of 'round', whereas mignonne had the connotation of 'small'.

OH WELL.

Well, "dodu" does have a fairly strong association with cuteness, like if you're talking about la joue dodue d'un enfant, but you can also say it about roast turkey. When a fisherman brags about his truite dodue, he's talking about its pleasant size, not about how likely he is to tickle its fins and call it mister fuzzy wuzzy lumpkin pumpkin. :whoops:

i guess what i'm really trying to say is, this thread is now about french semantics

in this modern age, is it pretentious to say apothicaire for literary effect where another would say pharmacien y/n

That's a bad route to go down.

Because I'll just post all the anglicisms the kids use daily and drive you nuts (though, perhaps not anymore nuts than you usually are by such things). :whoops:

So it's "Plump"

So, this Christmas update.

New items! Golly, look at 'em all! Shame I'll never see them.

Would it be possible to switch Neo ShMo over to TF2 Beta instead?

So far I don't see anything that worries me too much with the new weapons. People are upset that the Candy Cane sets a precedent (item with an effect on gameplay that is only available by spending money), but it may turn out to be craftable. I'll wait till everything shakes out before going nuts.

Also, is this item -25% damage done with just the wrench, or -25% for everything? Because if it's the former, uhhhhhhhhhh................. THAT might be a problem.

Haven't looked at the sets/set bonuses/hats yet. Probably do that tomorrow.
