Is the Amputator as broken as it sounds?
well, currently you are COMPLETELY INVINCIBLE while taunting so yes

In fairness, most grenades don't do much if they hit walls anyway. Isn't there some other benefit on the L&L though?
The grenades fly faster.

Oh right.

That reminds me that when I first saw it, I turned to Starr and said "So it's like the Demoman version of the Direct Hit.". I still kind of want to try it (still searching for the thing that will make me "click" with Demoman).

Absolutely want the Potato Masher though. GODDAMN, FUCK YEAH.

The potato masher with the targe is a magical thing.  Apparently you can crit the entire area of effect.

Loch n' Load takes some practice.  You can't miss or use it up close (You take 25% more damage from it than normal).  This thing is however excellent at killing clustered groups.  Use it on Payload defense.

grenades fly faster. So, it's (theoretically) better for being PRO DEMOMAN and blowing people up in one hit, but the faster speed means you'll have to re-learn how to lead your targets, so... maybe a wash?

Umm... This has never been my experience with grenades.

it's literally the demo's direct hit

some people will cry that it is overpowered, but actually it's trash, but like 5 people in the world will argue with you about it

i dont like any of the new items except the jag, which isnt that great anyway

this might be the first update i disliked ever

I've seen a (so-far) unsubstantiated number slung around pretty casually by the "I hate TF2 now" crowd: that 10,000 fewer users are playing on average in the past three months (some say the average userbase three months ago was 30,000, some say that's the average now).

Is this actually coming from some kind of verifiable source or are people just totally blowing smoke out of their assholes?

Does that have a history function?

It's also interesting to note that as of the typing of this post, TF2 is not only the most-played Valve game, but the most popular game on all of Steam, period.

Well they put out a big update like two days ago.  No surprise there,

It would be difficult to find out to what extent a decline in the TF2 player base is due to Hat-Related Burnout Disorder as compared to just the natural life cycle of a multiplayer game.

That may or may not be the case (I would argue that it might be possible to read some things into the data, depending on time and numbers, but anyway, I digress), but at this point we can't even confirm if there has BEEN a decline.

Currently, like at this minute, TF2 has the most players, but either version of counter-strike easily has more players in any given day. So no, TF2 isn't the most popular valve game period, it's Counter-Strike.

yeah the LNL is pretty garbage until it gets some tweaks, it cannot do crowd control at all and doesnt do enough damage to make up for 2 less shots and to top it off is worse at close range because you'll blow yourself up even harder

Remember, 2 normal grenades to the face kills pretty much everyone already

Thanks to the new computer, for the first time ever I was able to do previously mysterious and impossible things like... backstab, poof, or hit things with the minigun.

So THAT'S what it's like to actually play TF2!

Annnnd CS numbers are back to like tripling TF2. Not that it's a strike against the game exactly (it's still very popular), but the culture is waaay update oriented. I also really don't think hat induced burnout rates could be shown, because TF2 is sorta cycling to a different player base. Looking at all this stuff is sorta insane.

I keep wondering if the game will actually just break under it's own weight. If it hasn't in a year, I dread to think what sort of madding monster Valve will have on it's hands. Likely one that crafts gold out of human souls.

I'd be curious to see the player distribution by day.  Specifically how much of a spike there is every wednesday night/thursday morning.

Seems to me like the TF2 base is waiting for another more exciting thing to come up, except nothing's appearing to take its place. Instead everyone wants to make WW2 clones.
