I just updated my drivers today after trying a few more things. No luck. I did turn off HDR (Which switches itself on each time the game starts, thanks Valve!) And I got maybe an extra 5 FPS. I also turned off multicore rendering. I heard it can lower your FPS, but it hadn't done anything bad to me before.

I still can't get over how I went from running the game at full settings to everything on low at a lower resolution, and it still runs like crap.

Edit: The last time I updated my drivers was the beginning of April. I didn't notice anything wrong until just before the update when I started playing again. I lowered my settings a little bit because I wasn't used to playing as scout and I thought the game was a little choppy. But once the recent updates started it got worse over time.

Actually a lot of the effects mess me up. The particles from shooting buildings at long range and the wisp of smoke or whatever from the scout double jumping kills my fps for a second. That has always happened, but is annoying anyways.

New blog post written by The Soldier.  Perhaps a clue that the Soldier pack is next?  Celebrate with some pushups!

Added a "Discard" button to the item pickup panel.

Added a backstab custom death animation to the Heavy.

Changed default for tf_arena_use_queue to 1. This was the original behavior prior to the last update.

Changed the Dead Ringer so it can be activated while carrying the flag.

Increased the Force-A-Nature's damage by 10%.

Fixed not being able to reflect arrows with the Flamethrower.

Fixed The Huntsman drawing a muzzle flash under lagged conditions.

Fixed the background color of the Spy disguise panel not always matching his disguise team.

Fixed idle players being kicked when the server has tf_arena_use_queue set to 0.

Fixed Spies not being able to sap a building if an enemy player was colliding with the building.

Fixed getting a real target ID on an enemy Spy that's disguised as one of your teammates if you are disguised as an enemy.

Fixed the Ambassador not shooting enemy sticky bombs.

Fixed Spies being able to automatically cloak after uncloaking at the moment of a weapon switch.

Fixed Jarate instantly exploding when thrown in some places, like the final area of Badwater.

Fixed spectators not having their items removed when they enter spectator mode.

Fixed Sniper "civilian" exploit where players could crash the server.

Fixed a couple of cases where viable backstabs would fail.

I don't think they did this one quite right. I got hit in the back with a regular melee attack from a Spy, then turned around and got facestabbed.

Oh, so my knife really was going right through people's backs for weeks.

I'm not sure whether to feel better about that or not.

FAN is now my least favorite weapon. HEY GUYS I'M GOING TO KILL EVERYONE ON YOUR TEAM NOW OK BYE!

I might have to learn how to jump around while using it now.

Really, the FAN was already irritating enough with the knock-back and the rapid firing speed.  There is no longer any good reason for a scout to use the scattergun.

The FAN get's a buff.... Not the Flaregun, not the bonesaw, not the needlegun-- the FAN.

At least they didn't give HURRBURNURR Pyro a speed boost.

.... wasn't the whole issue the fact that most scoots had stopped using the FAN?

Say.... after several weeks of most of us playing most nights of the week (where more = "> half"), does ANYBODY have a hat?

I have vague recollections that Lady Duke got one, but that's about it.

Just seems like that's a bit TOO rare. What's the point of the silly things if no one is ever going to see them? It's not like they represent any actual achievement, so they're far more of a 'novelty' than they are 'impressive'.

There are three reasons I always thought the FAN was dumb compared to the scattergun.

1. Less ammo. It may take less time to reload than the scattergun, but you are still going to be reloading a lot.

2. You lose momentum when juming. I use the scout's double jump to avoid bullets and stuff, so stopping in the middle of a jump when firing would screw me over. The only time it doesn't stop your momentum is when you shoot straight down. (What did you really think you had to aim backwards to get the extra jump?)

3. At long range it sucks even worse than the scattergun.

I'm probably worrying too much over a 10% increase. It probably won't be that noticeable unless it is at point blank range.

This sounds to me like you're complaining that the game makes sense.

i'll go back to lurking this forum when you pry it from my cold, never-played-TF2 fingers

I'm not really complaining as much as stating why I don't use it.

Yeah, I dunno. Anyone complaining about the FAN buff is just a big Double-retard who didn't notice yet that any good scout who plays the game started using the scatter gun full time about a month ago. The FAN is cute, but it just didn't do enough damage to out weigh the knockback to yourself when jumping, the higher fall off damage, or the need to constantly reload the thing when one more shot would get you a kill.

I'm not terribly good at scout, so I use the FAN a lot just for the odd chance it gives me a one shot (well two shot really) kill and because I know it bugs Bal, the same reason the rest of my play style has developed.

FAN seems to be sort of a parabolic dip thing.  Bad Scouts use FAN, Good Scouts use Scattergun, and REALLY Good Scouts use FAN again.  If you're quick and ballsy enough to always unload the thing at true melee range and take full advantage of the third jump...

I use it when I feel like it.

Like the vast majority of the unlocks, which is working as intended.

Have I mentioned before that it's ridiculous that they're doing a complete overhaul to the item system and still haven't figured out a way to make equipping shit any easier?

Actually, it's a damn sight harder now, since I need to scroll through a pile of Cloak&Dagger's to get to my original Invisibility Watch.

(Yes I know you can keybind but when you have to resort to console macros out of necessity rather than convenience there is something wrong.)

The backpack is finite. Delete things you'll never use unless you know someone you can trade to. Trading isn't even implemented, so why bother. Delete things.
