As soon as I downloaded chrome, I was in  :wuv: myself with the goddamned browser.

Just now, I wrote a three page letter with Google docs on chrome, sent a copy using gmail and printed off a copy.  It went a lot smoother than if I was using office 2003.

All google needs to do is make a MP3 program which works with my iPod and that would be about everything I use windows for in a nutshell.

Two quirks I notice however:
1- the auto spell correcter needs some work being a bit more user friendly.  It takes me four or five attempts at right-clicking the word before the corrections come.
2- Gmail is flagged as a 'not'-word.

I don't really "do" spellcheck.  I don't even want to speculate as to the ratio of instances where I click "add" versus click on the correct spelling, but it's very, very high.

Links and text fields highlight when you tab to them, but buttons don't.

It also doesn't play nice with changing profile settings on SMF.

so is this going to come back to haunt me later when I'm on the run from the government/robots/government robots

CNet: EFF weighs in.

Quote
Privacy advocates are starting to sound the alarm over a feature in Google's Chrome that sends anything typed in the browser's Omnibox back to Google.
privacy

Google told CNET News earlier Wednesday that it plans to store about 2 percent of the data it gets back, along with the IP address of the computer that sent it. Google said it won't receive or store data if users turn off the auto-suggest feature or if they select a default search provider other than Google or if they are using the product's "Incognito" mode.

Tangent: you know what would be keen?  A browser smart enough to include links when I copy-paste a paragraph.  And convert them to bbcode or whatever the hell [url] is called.

As advertised, Google Chrome does, in fact, take care of shit that tends to bring down Firefox/IE/Opera.

I might start using it in Incognito mode all the time, though.  I don't even like having a browser history.

(I did turn off auto-suggest already for about the same reason.)

Hmm.  At the suggestion of Cait in #finalfight regarding Mario RPG, I went to GameFAQs to research the "missable" hidden treasure chest in the Mushroom Kingdom.  When I did this, my computer started to have horrible spikes of shitty performance, forcing me to wait about ten to fifteen seconds between shifting around my different applications.  It wasn't until I closed Chrome that this cleared up.  I don't know what happened.

Maybe I somehow had Firefox open at the same time because of my default browser being Firefox and clicking links in IRC causes Firefox to open.  Hmm.

Tried it again, and it seems to be an isolated incident.  Weird.

Firefox and Chrome haven't been playing especially well for me, either.  I tend to kill the corresponding process when I'm done with either browser.  (Firefox uses a LOT of CPU and RAM, even after file->exit.)

I really want Chrome to adopt Firefox's feature of clearing out the cache when closing the program.

Shitty performance spikes: probably Flash's fault.  Happens to me if I try to use YouTube on this browser.

I picked up Google Chrome, pressed down by accident, and broke my fucking spine. They should have put that in the TOS.

It's good that the graphic designers are keeping all the bases covered though.

"Guys I can't decide what colour this logo should be!"
"ALL OF THEM"

That's why they make the big bucks.
