Here's an interesting dissemination of Chrome's TOS.

Apparently Chrome runs on the same rendering engine as Safari and Konqueror, so if you've been testing your sites in Windows Safari until now you should be safe.

If not, it's another browser to test in.

EDIT: That was fast.  Options -> Manage (Default Search) -> change the "keyword" for a search engine to something nice and brief.  E.g., "gf" for gamefaqs search, "g" for google, etc.. Type "g how i mine 4 fish" and it'll query google with the string following "g ".

Hm.  So similar to Konqueror in that respect, then.

Liking it all right, but yeah, the minimalism's a curse as well as a blessing.  And I want my autoscroll and I want to be able to turn off fucking spellcheck.

I'm enjoying it so far. I never was a big Firefox fan and I never used any plugins that didn't somehow help download porn.

I'll stick with it for now, but it won't be my default browser for a good while I'm thinking. I'm very interested in the new standards this may introduce for web development as well. But we'll see how that plays out.

...and Chrome is running in the background, even though I closed it hours ago.  (Just like Firefox, but without burning 50% CPU on nothing.)

Yahoo Mail seems to behave badly with Chrome.

Did you try right-clicking?

Oh.  Wow.

Also: Why the hell would anyone want to do what's shown in the attached image?

my future father in law has firefox configured to open 38 tabs every time he hits the 'home' button.

It is exactly the worst thing ever.

Edit: before anyone asks, no that is not an exaggeration, 'home' actually opens 38 tabs.

I was going to posit that the still-running task was intentional in this case, seeing as how Chrome is sort of a virtual machine-thingy, but that theory is blown right out of the water by the fact that it does end normally for me.  Nevermind!

Upon uninstalling Chrome, you’ll find that the above HKCU:Run registry key *is not* deleted… because C:\Documents and Settings\jdc\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Update is never removed or emptied either. Ultimately what this means is that despite Google Chrome being removed from your system, you still have some creepy Google program lingering around in memory, and will continue to load even if you reboot the system. Furthermore it adds a GoogleUpdater.exe job to the Windows Scheduler so it can restart itself if terminated.

I imagine a lot of these 'quirks' are related to the fact that this is the first public beta of the software; I don't know if it's a system configuration issue, but whenever I try to run a flash program that has keyboard controls it causes the system to seize. I get the same results when mousing over links on some websites, and some websites don't look right. (livejournal) This all reminds me of the first betas of firefox when it was brand new. If firefox's progression was any indication, Chrome will get a lot better fast.

Dislike the minimalistic right-click menu.  Sometimes I just want the filename of an image, and "Inspect element" instead gets me information on a div housing it.  Might be better with more work, but the inherent display-what-I-mean factor might prove problematic.

I like the "open new tab" behavior so far.  If I'm on one of my leftmost tabs and middle click a link, it opens in a tab near my current one, instead of at the rightmost slot.

It's not going to supplant my lovingly-tweaked list of Firefox extensions, but this has become my go-to browser for suggesting an IE replacement to my technologically disinclined acquaintances. I can't wait for some of these features to become standard, or for other browsers' features to be integrated.

like those who get rapehentai.com as their first dial (I have no idea if that's an actual site and I'm not going to look)
Solution: browse porn sites in an incognito window.

(Here's hoping this also becomes a nice way to see whether things will work in Safari without having to stomach those fucking hideous button widgets.)

Not sure what to think about the whole browser automatically closing once you close the last tab.  It bugs me, but there hasn't been and probably won't ever be a case where I need the browser open and all the tabs closed.  ...unless I'm using the DM.

UPDATE: Tested it - autoclose does stop all downloads.  Be careful!  Or just get in the habit of opening a DM tab, I guess.

Ran into this one as well.  My solution so far has been to just drag the image to the omnibox instead--it opens the image in the current tab and displays the full address, and the load image/load previous page turnaround time isn't really any worse than the properties window on firefox was for me.

It's interesting that they kept a clickable go button, but no clickable stop.

Do you mean the button to the right of the URL box?  That turns into a stop button when a page is loading.

Possibly my bad, but I think it may not have converted to a stop button while some flash app was timing out, earlier.  I probably just didn't think to look there, though.

Not sure what you problem is, there.  I've tried out some flash games with keyboard controls and they worked fine.
