OK, this is probably the best place to get the info I'm looking for. A group of my D&D friends are starting a new game, and they're all making characters based off anime characters. I already had a concept, so I was trying to come up with some anime girl that sounds like that but I know fuckall about anime. I'm trying to find an anime character, not a specific character, just one who fits the description of a female (girl or woman) who crusades for the power of love. (That isn't Sailor Moon, because someone suggested that already.) Preferably she wears heavy armor and uses a longsword, but that can be worked around. Anyone know a character that fits these criteria?

Maybe, but only if your group is okay with open interpretations of minor characters: Catherine Elle Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist, and younger sister to Alex and Olivier Armstrong. She'd have Alex's gregarious disposition, but Olivier's talent with the sword.

Now to hold out for the subtitles. And get around to watching season 2. And Chibi-Haruhi.

That link has English subtitles.  They already had the translation and the timing from the camrip, so they just transferred that info directly over.

Just watched it with the GF.  Fantastic movie, even if you've already read the corresponding light novel.

Diebuster's still got pretty much the most succulent, batter-dipped ending for all times forever

I was... I was unaware that this was the company responsible for He Is My Master, however. That show is an actual crime.

Oh my gosh, yeah. And on the DVD box there's a blurb to the effect of "From the studio that brought you FLCL!" which honestly just tarnishes my memories of FLCL, you goddamn jerks!

To be fair, HiMM was a manga adaptation, same as Mahoromatic.

I guess the point is Gainax picks really weird shit to adapt and does better when it's original work?

Watched the 1st episode of Panty & Stocking today while I had the chance (which was incidentally the first Anime I've watched in.... geez a while).

Man, this just seems kind of... boring so far. Like it feels really pedestrian to me and not at all like a Gainax project. I don't mind the infantile humour at all. But the jokes just aren't funny.

Anyway, that was just the first ep. I'll certainly give it a much more extended try and watch at least 2-3 more episodes.
