I seriously think Mari got lost on her way to a different giant robot anime

Oh god, tell me about it. I like how the only other character of comparable skill only got there by building her entire identity around being an Eva pilot and becoming a massive bitch because of it. Mari's just got cutsey quirks and a massive rack where her crippling self-doubt and voided childhood should be.

USUALLY IN EVA SOMEONE SINGING THEIR WAY INTO BATTLE IS A SIGN OF M A S S I V E   B R A I N   P R O B L E M S

I'm holding out hope she's a clone or genetic experiment or something, but chances are pretty good they just threw her in to get a good 02 scene at the end.

Isn't Kowaru from the moon now or something?

I've been meaning to check out this new Eva series, but anime is expensive and all...

If Mari turns out to be perfectly normal I will be really disappointed.

there is the theory that there is some sort of timeloop thing going on (somewhat plausible) and mari is the tv series asuka (less plausible)

Yeah, timeloop seems pretty reasonable, as for Mari being Asuka that's mostly because of her name change but it is still a possibility, I mean, they have to do something with the name change.

It was for about a season.

Even then it wasn't the cool TWEWY shit it pretended to be in the OP though.

Well, I think at one point the kubo was considering tying the story back to something loosely resembling reality but realized he couldn't write anything like that without it being amazingly dull and mundane (see soccer episode or any episode staring Kon).  Also, he decided he hated every comic relief character he introduced, yet continued to keep adding more and then going on to ignore them.

Bleach was never anything other than what it is now. Once Orihime, Chad and Uryuu and their abilities were each introduced it became about ever-rising power levels pretty quickly.

As for One Piece, well, that image isn't not correct. It's become more refined, I guess you could say. Better, stronger, and yet consistent. It's nearly 600 chapters long, and it could easily go another 600 more, and none of it would be filler.

I think the biggest part of the reason why season one Bleach is so noticeably better than the rest is because it's the only time it was ever suited to be episodic. The remainder would be better as movies or something.

also because it's the only story arc that isn't about a major character getting kidnapped and ichigo having to learn a new technique to save them

At no point during Season One does anybody gather any fucking reiatsu.

Hell, at one point they have to stop Ichigo from ungathering reiatsu.

Highschool Of The Dead is pretty fantastic in that it's straight up zombie killing with what looks tobe some developing plot. I just finished the secon depisode and a few of the characters I'm really liking so far. A few I want to die. (Really just the ditz nurse.)

Is this accurate?

Actually, Naruto has gotten less emo, by just a small margin. Episodes where characters whine about bad shit that's happened or is happening are more and more often edged out by people saying, "FUCK IT! I am going to solve this problem to death with my giant tanuki testicles of solid steel and feel-good friendship power!"

Which is fun if you can tolerate characters turning into determinators (powered by "NAKAMA") to solve their problems. I thought I could handle it, because I've found myself caught up on One Piece. But lately there has also been deus ex machina being thrown left and right as the author tries to wrap up all the loose ends to have a conclusion within the next five years.

So I just watched all of Samurai Champloo.

I'm not sure if I like it better than Bebop.

You shouldn't

I mean, yeah, it's a fun show, but nowhere near as impeccably great as Cowboy Bebop was.

I mean I liked certain fights from Champloo and I liked the cast, but it really wasn't that memorable after I was done. I think you need to like their sense of humor rather than find it just weird and vaguely quirky.

By contrast I rewatched the last half of Bebop while I was laid up this past week losing my mind and I can't get past how it's just a really good adventure sci-fi show - like consistently, throughout each episode - and not just good for anime. I know it's modeled after western sensabilities and all, but it's colorful and moves at a great pace and there's just a casual fluidity to it all that makes it hugely watchable.

Champloo is a really solid show that is amazing and better than 90% of everything else out there.

Bebop is the best anime.
