And that's why One Piece is the best.

Yes, because they give the time to shine to every single completely awesome character.  It's very much a character-driven show, while many other SJ titles are main-character-driven shows.

Why is Code Geass supposed to be good again?

It has Norio Wakamoto overacting his heart out.

...Well, that's why I'm watching it.

No. No you did not. Two reasons: 1) we were discussing Shonen Jump anime, not anime in general, and 2) One Piece kicks Samurai Champloo's ass.

I wish I could overcome my hatred of the art style in One Piece so I could actually try to enjoy it in some context.

And here comes the flood of people telling me why I am wrong and I will always be wrong until what I wrongly assume is the end of time.

Nah, I didn't care for the art style at first, either. I started watching it, anyway, and it turned out that it was completely awesome, style and all.

The art was only one part of why I don't watch/read One Piece.  I saw an episode of the dub.  That was what ruined it for me.  I've seen bad dubs, but, One piece's dub was .... there's no way words can accurately describe it,  sorta like using a cheese grater on your eardrums but less physical pain and more psychological pain.

You saw a horrifically butchered version of One Piece, so that might color your view of it a little.

www.onemanga.com

Less lazy, m-g-t.

Avoid the anime, anime-style stretching makes most non-combat portions atrocious(go go Youtube, but god damn so many awful AMVs to pick through.)

doom fails to account for how fantastic the japanese vocal cast is, of course.  if you can stand the stretching out, go for it.

If you believe in the words of these clowns, they will also tell you that One Piece also has unusually high quality filler material. See if you can spot the filler arcs! :OoO: I couldn't.

I got bored and read a few chapters of Fairy Tail suddenly I have a newfound appreciation for One Piece. Still can't summon up the courage to continue the slog through the Manga or Anime tho' (Sorry Doom, Niku, Kazz, DN). I picked up something like chapter 470 through onemanga, and it was an incomprehensible mess of black. I immediately ducked out.

To of all things, Yakitate Japan. Proving once and for all that my tastes are essentially insane. I quit after Azuma starts baking off against ninjas. I... It... I have limits (also the school year started).

EDIT: I just read the latest chapter through onemanga. Fuck you guys. I have to go read it now.
