1. At a distance of course.

I didn't get the chance to vote, but the way I see it...it's not because he was infected and could be cured, or even that he lost control already.

He killed his wife and was begging for death.  I don't think he would've want to live anymore even if we cured him.  It seemed like mercy.

That was not an effective argument by Wolfy.

I agree.  I don't know if we could have convinced him with a different argument (mainly, alcohol doesn't cure 100%, and we need it for ourselves), but I think if there was an argument that could have changed Jacob's mind, we would have made it.

As useful as a doctor usually is in the zombie apocalypse, we've established that both we and Nicole can fucking regenerate.  Fuck 'im sideways, I say.

I dunno. Friday's been making us an undiplomatic moron lately. We're, I guess a sort of aggressive and rude dude at this point. With... A soft spot for demon children?

Anyhow, we need to make sure he's OK. He's part of the solution.

She's making us a jerk because we've been acting like one.  We abandoned an old couple, left Benny to die, and now we just ordered David to kill a man like we're the king of the apocalypse.  Our decisions are becoming increasingly self-interested, rather than concerning ourselves with the safety of others and society at large.

We didn't abandon an old couple.  They knew about the things (I think) and they didn't seem very likely to leave, and we left as a courtesy to the woman.  I don't think she would've been very welcoming with Nicole freaking her out.

 :;_;: Wh-what Friday?

we just ordered David to kill a man like we're the king of the apocalypse

Good point. Worser still, I'm not even sure he's ended the symbiosis with the THEY. I give it even odds of shambling after us pretty soon.
As much as I would've liked to cure him, it just wasn't feasible without some way to guarantee him being restrained while the liquors worked their magic. We can't very well stop here for him to get sloshed, and we have no idea how violent our THEY's death spasms were. We were and are ill equipped to save him and though it pains me to do so, we can't depend on divine providence to make curing him possible. All we could really do for him (while ensuring the safety of our party) was to honor his wish.
Or so... I think.

Whatever happened to moral gray areas?  I mean, we've been protecting Nicole all this time, how self-interested is that?  I don't think this is some Bioware RPG where everything is "selflessly heroic" or "selfishly evil".  Did we go too far by having that guy shot?  Maybe, but I don't think it's THAT clear-cut as you or Jacob say.  How does it benefit society to have another faceless trying to kill/infect others wandering around?  Maybe that wouldn't happen, but in extreme circumstances we have to make a call, and we did.  We have to move on instead of trying to save everyone in the state individually.

I'm still trying to avoid a sense that "bad" choices make us "give in" to the vines.  If acting realistically makes me one of THEY, then I guess I am the demons.

The difference between guiltman back there and us is that we haven't freaked out or given up yet. If we had stumbled into the vet clinic screaming "KILL ME", David would have shot us without a second thought, and probably Nicole too, by association. And he would have been justified.

Hey, yeah, remember when we were freaking out because we'd lost a few hours and the ssssss options were becoming more prominent?  Maybe we should have just let David shoot us and been done with it.  It would have been completed justified.

We were still in control.  He wasn't.  "I can't resist them anymore" he said.

He was like what we might be right now if we hadn't gotten that beer. I suspect there are also two competing species of THEY in us, which may have also helped. With each one fighting the other, maybe there weren't enough resources to go around controlling us properly?

The main difference here is that saving us was risky but practical for everyone involved...
We were saved during a night we were relatively sure of our safety and in a shelter. Let's face it... the cure wasn't without risk for us even in that situation. There is a chance of death that goes along with it.

HEY! I wasn't in favor of murdering him (at the end)! Saving him seemed not only impossible but extremely dangerous to our whole party including Nicole.

At least I wanted to destroy him ourselves. Rather than our ultra-violent lackey (who may have done it exactly wrong).

Yeah, we've been acting badly, but we need to focus on the future.

Appearances aside, while Nicole may be a helpless little girl, she is also considerably more.  We don't exactly have moral authority just because we're protecting her--either she's something we don't yet fathom, or she's considerably more infected/possessed than we are.

I don't know why we thought it'd be such a good idea to shoot that guy. I honestly don't. Ultimately it was a plan to help us get the resources we need to save ourselves and more people as quickly as possible. It's backfired entirely.
