After seeing the Quake 2 HTML5 demo I say Flash can't die fast enough.

Apple creating its own Flash player isn't really what this is about -- they're trying to leverage built-in video options in HTML 5.  Which I'm actually all for, because Flash honestly IS a bloated, unstable mess that we unfortunately find ourselves relying on pretty much every day.
Soon to be replaced by a kludge of browser-specific javascript+CSS, desperately trying to compensate for the interminable sea of mother fuckers using tomorrow's equivalent of IE6, still preventing us from just implementing things in HTML5 and one stylesheet-per-format (print, screen, etc.) for all browsers.

Bork is a real word in Swedish. It's an archaic term for "gulbrun", or what we call buckskin, a type of horse colouring.

I just realized, like three minutes ago... I always thought they were called the Bearstain Bears. And now I find out that they're actually the Berenstain Bears.

My life up to this point has been a lie.

I thought for a long time it was bernstein which is amber.  Whoa it is weird not capitalizing your own name on purpose.

I'm hoping most of the implementation kludge is done at the backend.

desperately trying to compensate for the interminable sea of mother fuckers using tomorrow's equivalent of IE6

There are bound to be people still using IE8 years from now because it's what came with Windows 7, but I think that's essentially going to mean that over the next few years we're going to see the big sites, like YouTube, start implementing things both in HTML5 and in Flash.

And I don't think we'll be in as bleak a browser market as IE6 gave us in the foreseeable future, because we're not going to have the kind of one-vendor world we did then.  Apple's sure trying its damnedest to make one for phones, but there's still plenty of competition there.

I'm told that "bork bork" is also Swedish onomatopeia for humping.

So does that mean Swedish people actually make that sound when having sex?

Man, that bugged me for the longest time. It would be like being told "Welcome to South Dakota!" in the game or something else absurdly local.

So, like living in the DC area while playing Fallout 3?

The Vegas level of L.A. Machineguns always amused me, because generally if you were playing that game in Vegas you were in an arcade somewhere on the Strip.  So inevitably, at some point during the level you would end up blowing up the building that you're physically standing in.

I learned that if you mix literally every single thing a friend has in his liquor cabinet you might not throw up. But you'll want to.

Depends.  The contents of my liquor cabinet won't make anyone throw up, sad to say.

Today I learned that the banner at the top says "Brontoforumus" not "Brontoforums."
