Literally annoying the British to total ruin is a very French idea.

Yeah, I was floored when someone pointed out that Juggernaut was Cain Marko, or reversed Marko, Cain.  Mark o Cain.

D'oh.  The Cain ref is obvious but I never got the Marko.  (Having a Flint Marko running around in Spider-Man does muddy it a bit.)

For my money, the first appearance of Juggernaut is the best X-Men comic ever.  Just really great monster-movie suspense stuff; Toth's pencils are fantastic but outshone by Kirby's layouts.

Course, part 2 is just by-the-numbers Stan and Jack "the heroes (and special guest star!) are stymied by the villain for 20 pages until they realize he has a really obvious weakness" formula, but god damn is part 1 great.

Always loved the old What If starring Juggernaut.

He's also an anti-vaxxer.  The man somehow has everything about medicine totally wrong.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

Yeah, one of the reasons (but not the main one) I stopped reading the Huffington Post was because it kept granting a forum for the alt-medicine nuts.  (And I'm going to make a clear distinction between alt-medicine proponents and alt-medicine nuts; it's not like I'm in love with big pharma or the medical establishment.  There are a lot of positives to things like therapeutic massage, but for fuck's sake vaccinate your kids.)

Not Learned So Much As Realized

Yesterday, I felt like watching Scott Pilgrim.

I grabbed the Blu-Ray and popped it in my PS3. The PS3 automatically turned itself on because it knew there was a disc in it, and my TV automatically turned itself on and switched to HDMI-1 because the PS3 had turned on.
The first thing the disc did was download new trailers from the internet. One of the trailers was for a new movie with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Wondering if it was a new Edgar Wright movie, I pulled out my iPod and used my IMDb app to check who directed the movie.
When the disc menu popped up, I switched my iPod to PocketBlu and used it as a remote to start the movie.

Dude, we live in the fucking future.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who manages to still be just jazzed the fuck out that my TV and PS3 can turn each other on.

...power each other up.

...activate each other.

...pull each other out of sleep mode.

...have sex.

William Shatner is 80.  80!

Here he is singing Celo Green's "Fuck You" a few months ago:

William Shatner sounds a lot like Bill Cosby now.

I learned that if I switch the camera controls around and re-map the buttons, I'm actually capable of playing Shadow of the Colossus!

So this is what everyone was so giddy about six years ago!
