Neil Young almost wound up on a complete different musical path, becoming a Motown artist. But the contract his newly-assembled band had signed was invalidated and the band disbanded when the lead signer who'd joined was arrested for being AWOL from the US Navy.

The singer was Rick James.

The Mynah Birds, yeah.  That was a question in this one trivia videogame my friends and I found at a CiCi's, once.  "What band had both Neil Young and Rick James in it", or somesuch.

The wacky part was my friend Phil knew that off the top of his head.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

I learned that the original concept for The Matrix was that humans were being used for parallel computing (which makes a heck of a lot more sense), but the producers basically changed the idea so they could have a shot where Morpheus holds up a battery.

I learned something about Sucker Punch today.

Quote
The film received a PG-13 rating. To avoid an R rating, a love scene was cut. Browning said, "I had a very tame and mild love scene with Jon Hamm... I think it's great for this young girl to actually take control of her own sexuality." She added, "[The MPAA] got Zack to edit the scene and make it look less like she's into it. Zack said he edited it down to the point where it looked like he was taking advantage of her. That's the only way he could get a PG-13 [rating] and he said, 'I don't want to send that message.'"

Two things, actually.

1. Zack Snyder has more integrity than I thought.
2. The MPAA think that a woman enjoying sex is more graphic than rape.

I've actually been aware of this for a while, but nevertheless, I thought it would be fun to share. You guys know that scene from Space Balls where Dark Helmet tells Lona Starr that he is his "father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate"?

I can do that with Oprah. I'm her Sister's Nephew's Father-in-Law's Best Friend's Son.

The building that best illustrates Hitler's megalomania is the so-called Volkshalle (People's Hall). Around 320 meters (350 yards) in height and covered with a giant dome, it would have been the largest domed building in the world — able to accommodate 180,000 people at once. [...] According to Keil, however, the building's size would have led to certain problems: "With all 180,000 seats occupied, the condensed breath of the people would have accumulated in the dome and caused a rainfall."

His future was depressing. I read it in sum as, "The South rose again."

One of the bartenders at my job doesn't know what a double is and will keep pouring until you tell her to stop.
