She was trying to blind me by squeezing lemon juice in my eye while I was in a headlock.

My old phone went ahead and admitted it couldn't handle it and went straight to a plaintext mode, five posts per page. My new phone tries its damnedest to render it like a desktop browser would, and... well, God bless 'im, he's trying.

Oh please. Pepper works so much better and it's widely available in packets.
Alcohol was reportedly a factor.

Some browsers seem to force you into rendered mode, and some will sensibly default to the WAP page.  If yours doesn't, consider a third-party mobile browser.

Okay, so, the shooting. I kind of allowed the incident to slip off my mind, it seemed like a textbook case of somebody else's problem, but coming home through the front door today, I had the following train of thought:

1- Aw man, some asshole got mud on my door.
2- Oh wait, that's dried blood. (Duh.)
3- I don't think the decorative framing on the window has always been broken.
4- Why does the door have several dents and cavities below knee height?
5- Holy shit the nutbug was trying to kick down my own actual fucking door.

So maybe I owe the gunman a beer?

Or a medal?

Unless the victim was trying to run away from him and decided breaking my door down was a safer bet than running down the street?

From my experience, the best way to deal with local violent crimes is not to put more thought into it than "wasn't me".

Maybe so, but I am
Far Too Canadian
for that.

Actually I sent an e-mail to the local police station with pictures and a request for information. I did get property damage after all, so in a small way, in the smallest way, it was me.

I learned that H.P. Lovecraft was a horrible racist.

There are 2mm scale wargaming miniatures.

For comparison, normal D&D miniatures are 26mm scale. 2mm scale gives you an entire Roman century on a 40mm by 20mm stand.

Apparently never read ANYTHING BY LOVECRAFT EVER.

Fixed.

I am continually amazed when people act like Lovecraft being insanely racist is a surprise. Almost every story he wrote has evil black or brown people in it (and every single time they're described as barely being human), and he constantly goes on about how degenerate non-WASPs are. He also hated anyone that wasn't at least middle class, which I see brought up less often. Weird, since it's almost as noticeable as the racism.

Yeah, Lovecraft was a pretty obvious racist/WASP/eugenicist (he also had a big hate on for white trash, calling them degenerate subhumans too). In general he was a big believer in fashionable pre-WWII theories on breeding/eugenics, etc.

Robert Howard, too. Although, he was more about Anglo-Saxon fighting stock than middle class.

Man, if we start counting up all the great writers of the past who were horrible [insert whatever here] we're not going to have much left, that's for sure.
