The catch? The astronauts were trapped inside a NASA trailer as part of a quarantine effort just in case they brought back any germs or disease from the moon. They even wore special biological containment suits when they walked out on the deck of the USS Hornet after being retrieved.

While MadCatz offers good, long warranties (2-5 years) on its controllers, its licensed products -- like, say, every Mad Catz controller you would actually want to buy -- have warranty terms set by the licensors.

The SF4 Fightpads, for example, only have 90-day warranties.  I am hoping that the $150 arcade sticks have better ones, but I don't know; those are too rich for my blood.

Anyway, my Fightpad stopped pairing a week or two back.  Hopefully it's just the dongle; they've offered to send me another one of those free.  If it's the controller, though, I'm SOL, even though I've barely used the damn thing.

Something I figured you guys might want to know for your future purchases!

(I WOULD like to add that my experience with their customer service has been great!)

The TEs are actually so easy to mod it's irrelevant if there's a warranty. The buttons and stick are actually Sanwa parts anyway, not Madcatz

Oh man, I have a friend/spar partner/rival who has gone through 4 Fightpads in the span of two years. They're excellent for Street Fighter but so lightweight and breakable. He keeps buying them regardless because that's what he's used to playing with. I have another good buddy who owns two of the TE Fight Sticks and those are impressive and literally built to last (arcade perfect). Like Defenestration said, if the buttons or whatever break down the road you can always just replace the parts individually like the pros do. As for me, I'm stuck using the crappy 360 controller but use one of my friend's fight sticks half the time whenever I'm over at his place.

Heads up, though, last year around black friday madcatz had a buy 1 fight stick, get 1 free deal... they might do that again this year... But it's kinda slim that they'd do that offer again mainly because they're more in demand right now.

Nothing wrong with the buttons, just the wireless, but I'll keep it in mind.

Don't know if I'll replace the thing if the new dongle doesn't fix it; at this point you can get a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom stick for the Wii for the same price.  I like the pad, at least in theory, for emulating things with 6 face buttons (Genesis, Saturn, N64), but I think it's too imprecise for $40.

(The "floating D-pad" does what it says on the tin; it's great for games designed for a stick but too floaty for, say, Sonic.  And while the button layout feels a bit more natural for the N64 Zeldas than the Cube/PS equivalent, the pad is still 8-direction digital even when you set it as an analog stick.)

My little brother's roommate's name is Matt. His nickname is "Matty Ice."
My brother is still the biggest tool in the building.

I hope when he told you his nickname you proceeded to stare directly into his eyes and laugh until he left the room.

It was "Tybrone" there for a while. Please note my brother's name is not Tyrone.

If a kitten playfully claws your hand, and then you continue to pet it because you dominated it into cuddle-time, and you are allergic to cats, those tiny pricks on your hand become like an allergy test and will itch and look like mosquito bites for the next hour.

I bet the cat thinks it's funny.

Why are you playing with a cat if you're allergic to cats?

Today I bought a bag of bugles because I saw them at the 99 cent store

Apparently the makers of Bugles just don't care anymore because all of them are like flat and the opening are now too small and flat to put a finger in. I cannot make fingerclaws with anything in this bag.

I mean fuck I might as well have bought Fritos

yes I know this is a first world problem

don't tell me you never did that with bugles
